A new trivia question has been added!
NOTE: Due to the cheating on the Trivia that has been occurring, the sP prize has been significantly cut. Also, very few truly rare items will now be being given. (Not that Arbor's delicious mud pie is not a thing of beauty and a joy forever). The pocket of cheaters know who they are and where they posted, and that it is absolutely not permitted. If anyone would like to report any of them, please feel free. I was going to discontinue the Trivia entirely, however I chose the less drastic route of lesser prizes unless and until this spate of cheating comes to a halt. It will be being monitored.

When you click on the "trivia question" button and it goes to the next page where you input your answer it clearly states "You are not allowed to give out the answers for the trivia. If you are caught, you will be frozen!" I don't know how people couldn't see it as it is the last sentence on the page...And those people that cheated need to be frozen for what they've done because the rule is very clear. If they choose not to freeze these people then it will remain an empty threat that no one will take seriously because they are not directly affected by their actions due to lack of consequence.
Sigh, this sorta reminds me of when the user shops were shut down for a while.
'Cept I don't know WHY they were shut down.
I can understand, people will cheat sometimes, but if more than one person just goes and shouts to everyone, "HEY GUYS! I KNOW THE ANSWER! IT'S ----!", then it's just ridiculous. My friends ask me for answers all the time, and I usually just give them a fake answer so they won't bother me about it. ;(
If there was a way to do it, I believe people who were looking at the posts right before they answered the trivia should be punished as well. I don't know how you'd do that, though.

I used to love figuring the trivia out daily. And being new to the sight it taught me alot. Since the prizes are no longer worth the hours spent finding the answers I dont think I will be doing them any longer.

Thanks for clarifying, Debilee. Also, yeah, I agree that our board comes a little too close sometimes (unintentionally, I think, and usually someone asks the poster to edit those asap), but we definitely don't post answers, and the vast majority of our comments are the basic "that was easy/hard" or "I find the wording confusing" or "that was a good one!" kind of posts.
Hi, Cranberry! Thanks for posting here; that makes things much easier. As I said a few posts down, I can only disable the News comments if I do the News post myself, rather than use the pre-made one, which contains the actual link. The first few posts invariably are made by people who have won the last Trivia, which is fine, just not hundreds of comments debating a past Trivia; those belong in the Forums. I think people are misunderstanding my use of the term discussion. Discussing isn't permitted, as in do you think it wants a Minion or a plushie as the answer? However, asking other questions for me to answer, such as no article, right? or pointing out spelling errors, or asking if capitalization matters, is fine. Just not discussion of the actual question itself. I'm always also happy to clarify as much as I can via sMail. Also, I've read through some of your board now, and many of the posts are fine, but some do skate a bit too close to the edge. The reason that the answers cannot be open to debate is that it serves no purpose, as there are no logs, due to space restrictions.
I really hate cheaters right now.
Kthxbye losers.
x_____x
Oh well... I guess there will always be those people that have to ruin the fun for everyone else.
I wish they could be exterminated, or something.

Why are the comments enabled on trivia posts? I'm not trying to be mean or start an argument; I'm just curious. You say no discussion of the current trivia is allowed. However, in the (recent) past, like when people were talking about how they believed the owl trivias were unfair, you said several times that they should take discussion of past trivias to the forums because news comments were only for talking about the current trivia. Which is it?
I had a small Fight Club brain movement for a second.

1. Do not talk about the trivias.
2. Do not talk about the trivias.
Danggg, I'm not doing trivia anymore xD Glad we have such a good staff who take action though =)
I never knew that either I don't have a problem with staff checking what I send though I understand why it needs to be done. I have nothing to be woried about I have never and will never give out any help or info to current trivias on site or off. I'm totaly against all that and I do try hard not to get myself into trouble on here Last thing I want is to get a warning and be on bad terms with anyone. The problem is though that we can't tell who is spoiling this for everyone and so the staff and us users can't realy stop it from happening off site. It's very annoying and just dumb to cheat in the first place the whole point of trivia is to enjoy finding the answer yourself. It's completley unfair to those who spend REAL time on working the answers out themself I can't imagine it even feeling rewarding if you know you have cheated and all for a pixel image. Thats all it is at the end of the day and for that you could lose your account forever imagine, no Subeta for you ever again, doesn't even bear thinking about.

I did not know that - not that I send stuff that I should be worred about but still....

Couldn't you just have a programmer tweak it to disable them the same way the potion lottery ones do?
The Trivia News post is pre-done with the link already in it. In order to disable comments, I'd have to handtype the Trivia News post and therefore lose the pre-made link.
You shouldn't have to disable comments, no, it just seems like it would take a hell of a lot of temptation off the board, and would be a lot easier than sitting here weeding through it every trivia.
wow, what a bummer.. trivia has been the highpoint here for me.. i love working them out.
this really makes me sad.
this really makes me sad.
Hmm...I think I have the answer to this trivia now. I can't say I'm 100% sure of it, but...it does seem to perfectly fit the description in the question. And I couldn't find any other possibilities that were as close, so... submits answer #705! Hope I got it right!
All this reminds me of the "rules" for the blue building.
"You are not allowed to talk about it or tell anyone anything about it." I've seen this several times posted in the forums but when I ask for a link to where the rule lies no one seems to know that answers.
I personally think rules should be set in stone.
That way if someone asks or wants to know they are written for all the world to see and there will be no, "but I thought" or "he/she said".

Also, if people sMail me directly with questions, I will answer them, if it doesn't directly totally give away the answer. Oh! And, to the posted question, no, no article; there generally never are, unless it is a specific book title, etc.
I wasn't speaking to everyone at all; I was speaking specifically to you, as I've seen you post in the Trivia comments before, nor was I implying that you yourself were one of the off-site cheaters. I'm sorry if there was anything in my post leading you to believe that. People always bring up glitches, bugs, etc., but I'm an AA, not a programmer; I can do no more about those glitches than an average user. I am specifically items adder/retirer, and Trivia, as my Staff heading says. Yes, not washing with me is my opinion, that someone who regularly posts in the News comments couldn't possibly have missed my saying no discussion of current Trivia is permitted, or BGG, among others, repeating it. Also, just a note on that, things said in sMails can also be reported, as well as read by certain Staff members. So I wouldn't really recommend cheating via sMail either. Once again, not implying that you personally are cheating, just a general proviso.

I'm sorry, but claiming not to know something that has been posted here dozens of times still doesn't really wash with me.
You know what, this is a big sight, and not everyone takes 20 HOURS to read every post in the forum.
shakes head It is sad, if half the time was spent fixing glitches Profiles and such as bantering here and playing God, things might actually be a little more clear.
I personally do not go to other forums to answer the trivia. I do go to Skyotica to search items and such, but jeesh, UA or not, things not washing with you doesn't make it wrong, it simply makes it NOT of your opinion.
Thank you for the nice Smails letting me know where info is to those who S mailed me! I appreciate it. Seems to be more help with users these days then from it is supposed to be coming from.

Also, in response to that board, no, half of the correct answers do not come from friends sharing, the majority of people do them on their own. Passing around answers would just make your own prize less rare and less valuable; what point would there be in doing that? Also, the parents/teachers who don't play Subeta assistance referred mainly to our underage players, so that their parents could help them with the larger words, and to our math Trivias, for which no knowledge of Subeta is required at all. And... why are you asking such questions as these on that board, rather than posting them here where they can actually be addressed and answered.
And now to answer a few questions on the other off-site Forum with a Trivia discussion board, that I wasn't actually referring to. Why should we have to disallow News comments? Because people just can't control themselves and not post things that they're not supposed to? We should have to protect users from themselves? I'm sorry, but that's a bit illogical; there are comments that can be made that don't violate any rules. And I don't post directly on that board because I don't happen to be a member of that particular site. I haven't read through the entire 65 pages yet, but, yes, that board does violate the no discussion of Trivia rule, but I wasn't even aware of the existence of that board until after we had discovered the other board.
"I don't think that trying to justify the actions due to ignorance or 'invisible rules' is going to help any" No justification coming from me. I;m simply explaining how some people might see it. As for "Regardless of whether or not it was 'okay' before, it /definitely/ isn't now. As of this moment, you know" People know if they are following these comments, but many may not read these. I know it was probably six weeks after I joined here and started playing the trivias before I ever ventured in to read the comments. Thank you DebiLee for working on the new help for trivias. Having the rules clearly stated will benefit everyone.
I'm sorry, but claiming not to know something that has been posted here dozens of times still doesn't really wash with me. Also, no discussion of current Trivia has been posted here, in the Forums, in the Shoutbox, etc. I still don't see how people rationalize that taking the discussion off the site somehow makes it acceptable. It isn't, and never has been. And it's rather a moot point in this particular instance, since the cheaters ARE posting the actual answers on a public forum, which no one can disagree, is not permitted.

Ugh. This makes me sick. Trivia is one of the highlights of playing this site for me, and if there's not going to be any real meaning to getting it right, I might as well not spend my time on it. (And since I didn't cheat, it actually took me quite a while, which feels rather pointless right now.) Thanks, cheaters. Sure know how to ruin someone's night. -__- And another thing, I don't think that trying to justify the actions due to ignorance or 'invisible rules' is going to help any. Neither is trying to use loopholes in the existing rules to get around it. Regardless of whether or not it was 'okay' before, it /definitely/ isn't now. As of this moment, you know. Now it just needs to stop, and we can move on our merry way.
I'm really sorry, Penny, I really didn't mean it as singling you out at all, only to indicate to which post of dozens I was replying. Obviously the tone of my post must have come out entirely wrong; I was just trying to answer the question. However, I completed (unless I think of anything else) the rough draft of the Trivia Help article during the midget wrestling (just... don't ask! XD) earlier this evening. (I actually wrote the rest of it on the back of my checking account deposit slips because I wanted to get it done. Now I'm going to check it with someone else who has added Trivias, to see if I missed anything in it. I think it's pretty comprehensive, though; it covers proper suggested Trivias as well.

giggles I am sorry, I have to agree here. Not everyone comes here to post after a trivia. I have NEVER seen rules saying it can not be discussed or worked on.
Also, as for the other sight.... it states not to post the answer, no rules have ever said things can't be worked on as a team.
People are going off on cheaters, however, make the rules clear before going off on people who break "invisible" rules.

That should read "I don't think it is right to work with others on trivia" Sorry for the typo. I will say one more thing and then I'll shut up for a while. If we could depend on everyone using commonsense for things such as this, there would be no need for any rules at all would there?
I don't think it is right to work with other on trivia, in any way, shape or form. It seems commonsense to me that each person should work independently to find their own answer. My point is simply this. What is commonsense to one, may not be to another. Many different people, of many different backgrounds, play here. I doubt one could ever get 100% of the players to look at anything the same way. The rules say not to give out the answers. I could see someone reading that and thinking "They didn't say anything about hints, or collaboration to find the answer. Different people see things differently, that all.
Thank you for not doing away with the trivia because of a few cheaters. I hate it when everyone gets punished for something some idiots did. It's the story of the litigious world afterall. But I do hope the cheaters are outed and banned so we can go back to good prizes! I've gotten great stuff through these things!
I don't understand why people think that working with someone else on the trivia is acceptable. I realize there are many adults who play this site so bear with me here because this is the best example I can give that everyone can relate to... Imagine you're a student in high school, right before a math quiz the teacher says if he finds anyone cheating he'll immediately fail them. If you're stuck on one of the problems are you going to pull your chair up to a friend and have them walk you through how to do it? No, because even if you didn't copy your friends answer the fact that they helped you at all is still considered cheating. It's the same with the trivia questions.
DebiLee said they were posted. I haven't been able to find them either, but maybe I just don't know where to look. I have no reason to doubt DebiLee, so I'm hoping she will point us to the rules. I will say this though. I wouldn't expect rules from other sites to be automatically applicable here. I'm sure things have been posted numerous times in the comments for various trivias, but there's a problem with that. One, not everyone reads the comments, and two, even if they do read the comments, is the post with the information within the last 40 posts? 40 is all I can see when reading these.
It is such a shame that so many faithful trivia players have to be held accountable for a bunch of cheaters. I really looked forward to each trivia - and when finally figuring out my guess I was so happy to be correct. Too bad the cheaters do not realize the joy of the accomplishment. It must have been very frustrating for Debi to find them, and I truly hope it puts an end to it- hopefully the cheaters will not go elsewhere. (Or hopefully they will far far away from this site forever!) Today the trivia was a tough one! It seems very vague - good luck to everyone.

Oh, its written on the page itself, not to GIVE the answer away. But somewhere, I saw / read / heard / whatever, something that somehow gave me the impression along the lines of .. giving an answer away and working together to get one, is 2 diff things. Which, I agree with .. BUT .. if it is, and it has .. been clearly stated the site sees it as being the the same thing, I will abide by that. still cant see ANY rules other than that one on the trivia page itself .. ive looked everywhere Just burns me that i tried to clarify .. for a REASON .. being HONEST .. and get roated for it. Nice. That will teach ppl it pays to be honest for sure. (ok, maybe not)
missatralissa - The answer to the previous trivia was to be found in the description of the Obnoxious Inflatable Charlie Elf Lawn Ornament.
ever since i started playing a year ago it was drilled into my brain that we are not allowed to discuss trivia.. i don't recall where i read it, but wherever it was written it was serious enough to stay in my head..

Seems there are diffrent rules for diffrent people....guess its all in who you are friends with
Actually, I hadnt seen it stated that its definitly not allowed. I mean, seriously, if I had DEFINITLY seen it .. would I have been the one to bring it up? How stupid would that have been of me?? Now, I WILL say, I cant recall if it was members players .. or staff etc who was making the statement, so its VERY possible that it was just players speculating and I wasnt sure who they were. I mean, just last week I was APALLED at a comment someone made, and even posted how rude it was, only to be told, by someone else, the person was a mod. (Still shocked over that one). But, yeah, OBVIOUSLY I wasnt 100% sure, or .. common sense wise .. I would have not been the one to bring it up. CLEARLY, I now know for sure, and you can bet, I will do whats right. The question was made to ensure, myself .. AND OTHERS btw, who posted they were also unsure I love how only my name is always stated when others post as well would be sure to play properly. I do appreciate the info, as im sure others do as well.

All this talk of "punishment" being unfair seems off. It's not like they're taking away something we ALREADY had, just altering future potential to give lower prizes. Yeah, it's disappointing, but I'm glad that the trivia is at least still here, because it's a fun thing.

damn idiots ruining it for the rest of us! * goes chasing after the cheaters with a flaming baseball bat*
ICK.... cheaters! You see that you ruin the fun for everyone and I am just thankful that you decided to continue it at all..... Clearly its in the rules that you can not give out the answer every single time you go to answer a trivia..... don't bother playing a online game if you have to cheat to play please

While I wish there was a way to punish the cheaters and not the rest of the fair playing crowd, I agree with Debi.. Theres not much we can do to the cheating people until they know WHO it was exactly. Id MUCH rather the dimished prizes for everyone, rather than NO trivia for anyone.

I 100% agree, actually. If anyone has a suggestion for a different method of handling it, when the cheaters use different user names on the other site than they do here, trust me, I'm all ears.
I'm not sure where you might have seen that comment, Penny, but it's definitely untrue if you did. The only help that you can get would be from a parent, teacher, etc. WHO DOES NOT PLAY ON SUBETA. Any sharing of ideas among Subeta players is strictly forbidden; the trivia is to be an individual effort. I believe that other sites also have a very similar rule. Also, it's just commonsense. If one person discusses with a group of four friends, and then one or two of those people move on and share what was discussed with four or five other people, then, before long, half of the users answering have gotten the answer. The rules very clearly state, and I have repeated here several times, that NO discussion of the current Trivia is permitted; I can't see how you could possibly say that you aren't aware of that, Penny, since I know for sure that you've seen it.

I was under the impression that ANY sharin' of ideas, hints, or anything that may lead to the answer was against the rules... That's just the way I always took it to mean, and figured that was the safest way... If I couldn't find the answer, then I just didn't answer... I've spent hours, (and I mean some serious hours!!) searchin' for answers... The ones I got right, I worked hard to find!! I was proud when I got the event tellin' me I got it right and my prize... It just makes me mad that they had to cheat and ruin it for others... I do thank you, DebiLee, for keepin' the trivia, and I'm sorry the cheaters did that... I hope thy're caught...
This really annoys me I came on here and found this and I'm really annoyed now. I can understand that something needs to be done but I'm sorry but I don't think it's a fair way of dealing with it. Why should those who havnt EVER cheated be punished why should we get less sP and less rarer items it wasn't our fault and I don't think that allot of people cheat it's just some. I'm quite disheartened by this news seems to me they are winning and we are now ALL being punished surley there must be a fairer soloution... I don't mean to argue but this isn't a fair way at all ... Do you think those of us that don't cheat are happy that cheating happens, NO we're not but this is just wrong I don't see why I should be treated like a cheater. Well thanks cheaters looks like you have spoiled this fre EVERYONE and it's so unfair I'm going now, I'm angry... Sorry but I just feel it's a real shame and a sad thing to happen ...

Ick. That's not good. I'm too stupid to figure out any answers anyway x).
What happened? I'm gone for about 24 hours and there's something about cheaters? Reduced prizes because of it. . . wow. This completely sucks. (and on my b'day too.)
How sad that people actually cheat on little trivia stuff like this... -shakes head- pathetic...
Oh yikes. Well, this would at least help you know? I guess short of tying together accounts there to accounts here there isn't much to do, but there were tons of hints on site, too.

I think it would help a lot of we just weren't allowed to talk about trivia on the site PERIOD. No news coments, no forums, no nothing. I saw a ton of hints for the last one on the news post alone!
The thing is, the cheating is on an offsite forum. They're giving out the answers- not hints, but actual ANSWERS- on an offsite forum, and that part is out of the Subeta mods' control for the most part.

Bagheera23608, good points. But really, when talking to friends, how many of us DONT say .. see the new ? .. any ideas at all? .. Well, I think ive ruled out ... What about the format? ... etc. That, to me, is working on it together. I see a HUGE difference in that, and what it sounds like happened. And, im not saying it IS ok, im just wanting to know the line of being able to discuss things with friends. I dont want to break rules, but I wont lie that .. with friends, I chat. Its natural ..LOL. What I DONT do is find the answer and immediately IM everyone on my list ...thats a different matter. But, whatever is decided, or explained is cool with me, but yeah, clarification is a nice thing to have
Thanks Moss_Dragon. I missed that part. But if they know it was off site - they still know it was against the rules. I do have every confidence that when found (WHEN not IF) those users will and should be frozen.
(I agree about knowing if it is ok to work on it in small groups. I don't think it is. How can they determine how someone is cheating if that is allowed? So I am going to vote for every person for themselves, lol)

For those saying that they should freeze anyone who was on the fourm, Debi said last night it was an off-site forum. They don't actually know who it was, but if they find out they will freeze them.
It was always my impression that you were not supposed to work on the question with anyone, but figure it out yourself.
Heavenly_pixie, since my question is likely to have been buried by the time DebiLee gets to see it, i have also Smailed it to her, if I get a reply, and dont see a general info update post made here, I will definitly forward my reply to you I think its a fair question and one MANY ppl, whether they admit it or not ...should know. i really dont think im the only one who works on it .. together .. as a small group of friends. And as im aware there is a difference in out and out cheating, I still want to know where the line of what is ok to share .. is drawn.

Gross, cheaters. bites them Now it's hardly worth looking for the answer. Thanks for keeping it up, at least, Debi.

WOW, a lot of comments on this topic. I too wonder if a few friends work together if that is considered cheating or not. Some of these trivias are hard and take a lot of searching!
I have seen people post the question on Yahoo.. I usually just laugh and ASK IF THEY ARE SUBETAN.

Thanks for keeping the trivia up and running despite the evil cheaters who would ruin it for us all...^-^
Well - complaining about all the cheaters isnt going to do much good. The idiots know what they did was wrong but they did it anyway. So telling them off won't accomplish much. It does seem to me, that if staff knew there was a forum or some such going on, then they know who was doing the cheating and should freeze those users w/out further delay.
The rule can NOT be any simpler. If you are caught cheating - you can be frozen. Period. End of discussion.
Good to all who do try tho!!

Way to go cheaters. You ruin everything you wastes of flesh.
So wait, we're ALL in trouble for something that people we've probably never met in our lives did? o.0 I'm a serious minion collector...does this mean that there won't be minions anymore in the trivia? =(
What the...People have been cheating on the last one?! Oh, come on, really!! Once again, the jackasses of the world screw things up for everyone... Time to unleash the werewolves!! That's right, not hounds, werewolves!!
To the Cheaters: People can figure it out for themselves, and so can you! You dont got to tell us, and you dont need to be told, its not fun if you just give out the answers, its the surprise of winning, to see if your intellegence on subeta, or on another topic is good. Stop cheating, because it is not fair, to all of us who dont cheat.

If I can't answer a trivia, then I DON'T! I don't go and turn to someone and say, "omg, lyke it's s0000 hard!!!1one. Plz hlp m3!" They just ruined it for everyone. It kind of made Trivia's loose their fun for me =/
I'm on vacation, but I thought I'd log in and check the news. Thanks a lot, cheaters. That was how I made a good portion of my sP... selling the trivia prizes. I hope someone who knows who you are reports you. Grr.

I hate when someone's mistakes ruin things for other people. ;_; Learn to think about others for once. How can you stoop so low just for some sp and an item, that's the all-time low of the low... =____=
sigh If they cheat at an online game, what are they going to be like in real life? I searched the DB for keywords, skated right over that Lawn Ornament rolls eyes
You guys.. all of you who can get these trivia questions right... I commend your intelligence... when I read these questions... they make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever... how you even came up with augustus.. or whatever the answe was.. is beyond me... Honestly.. I would have used the answer if I saw it posted on the forum (i didn't by the way)... there used to be a time when I could get the trivias... now I don't have a even have a chance.. perhaps I am too closed-minded to comprehend them... As for what Debi did.. she did the right thing, but it stinks that other people suffer because of it.. I wanted that prize so badly... I would of paid people off to give me the answer, but because of the rules.. I didn't.... some people were so desperate for the prize.. that they would do ANYTHING to get it...
I have a question on this, and dont get me wrong, I agree OUTRIGHT CHEATING is not cool. BUT, where is the line drawn? Not to cause more issue, but to make is clear to ppl what extent is being punished. Not long ago, I saw a comment that working on a trivia TOGETHER, several friends can help one another out, in a group effort. Is that considered cheating to some (or more important, to the moderators)? I readily, happily admit, I do have a SMALL group of friends, that, bounce ideas on how to search for answers off one another. In continuation of that idea ... once one of that group finds the answer they have ALL been working on, is it cheating for one to then say .. Oh, found it, here you go .. or ... is that one to say .. ok, im done, GL ya'll! .... just asking for this part to be cleared for future of my own acct, and for my personal knowledge. as far as a full forum spouting answers etc .. yeah, uncool, unless .. how do we know that what I just questioned isnt what was done?

I don't understand why people can't just do their own work and earn their own things. If they miss some, so what, losing is also a NORMAL part of life, just like winning is sometimes. I hope every single one of them get caught. If it doesn't stop it will wind up like another site where answer sites go up like wild fire just to feed the need and greed of those who don't want to think or work anything out for themselves but still "have" to have the prizes.

The thing that cheeses me it, cheating totally takes away your sense of accomplishment. Even if the prize is super cool and I miss out, it doesn't matter. Sometimes I don't have time to find the answer, sometimes, I don't give a rip.
When I do find an answer whether I knew it right away or it took me hours of searching, I always have this huge feeling of "BOOYAH!" because it's a small personal challenge I met. So whether it's a cute worm (Arbor, you rock) Or some super rare clothing item, it will always feel better to solve or fail on your OWN.

Well if the trivs did end the only reason I would not miss it is beacuse I totally suck at it but it would be bad for the few folks who own at it.
Folks shouldn't mess up other folks fun.
Charlie elf was wrong!? See I can't miss it when all my answers are wrong like this

Found this answer, I believe. I'd like to say I'm very disappointed to learn about cheaters. I spend so much time searching for the trivia answers. I win some, I lose some, but I never resort to cheating. Shame on those of you who have nearly ruined the trivias for all of us..and are responsible for decreasing the prize amount and item rarity. I hope you will be reported and properly punished.

trivias are not my thing, I suck at them, so if it is not something I can find in about 15 min I just buy prize from someone else.I admire all you people who work so digillently at finding the answers.
Thanks for not ending the trivia, though I myself am one of those people who is pretty much hopeless at it.
Maybe I'm being dense, but why should giving a hint be considered cheating? So many of the trivias are so obscure a lot of people don't know where to even begin looking for the answer.

I am on yahoo a lot, so I will be glad to keep an eye out and do more obsure searches of their forums to find these people. I barely play and make tons of sP's, having to cheat just shows how truly moronic people are.
I am so glad you chose to keep Trivia going, DebiLee. I still get a kick out of answering obscure questions!
I am so angry at the cheaters though. Because of your selfishness, and inability to accept that you can't win all the time, you've ruined the main opportunity I have for getting rare items (asides from spending RL money on DPs that is).
I await the opportunity to dance on your frozen accounts.

Though I'm not very big on the Trivias as I'm not that great at it.. I think it's sad that people feel the need to cheat just to get the answers.. The game for fun, (prizes and SP) not much else really so it seem dumb to cheat yes I get that everyone wants the prizes but it's not that much fun if your cheating but maybe thats just me.. Although I dont really see whats so hard to understand about the RULE (You are not allowed to give out the answers for the trivia. If you are caught, you will be frozen) but again thats just my thoughts.

Ok... I am going to comment which is very rare so please bear with my rambling.... I promise I have point.....
A while back I am not quite sure when there was that trivia.... The really long math problem... And it said something along the lines of there was also a sale of 20% at the store on merchandise and I smailed DebiLee to ask if the 20% off applied to the game and the system or just the game. I recieved a response (very quickly) telling me to smail the person who submitted the trivia and ask them. Which I did... And did not recieve a response... Shortly the trivia was taken down and a new one put up. The a little bit late another trivia came up... The one about who likes avatars and tomatoes... Well I thought it was that user who had it has their interests... And I was lurking the forums and noticed a post about it and on the thread a user had posted I smailed a UA and was told that it was not a user so I was able to find the right answer I thought this was Subeta's way off showing us that we were able to find members with similar interests..... Just by searching for them... I had seen a couple trivias where a staff member was the answer...
I feel that was a hint and it was very unfair that one user was told... But it was not added to the trivia to make it fairer... I am not complaining... Just stating my opinion.... I mean it really bugged me and I feel with the new rules/guidelines being put in place with trivias maybe that could be addressed? Trivias will never be about a specific USER.... But could possibly be about Staff.... And I would like to see any extra clarification that's added be put in trivia for all..... I am NOT trying to start a whole debate on was that cheating.... Hence the reason I added no names.... And will not... I am just suggesting some trivia guidelines...
See I had a point... And if think that was bad you should her me on an answering machine.....

Trivia's more of a casual thing for me... if the prize is neat, I try and find the answer. Though I have a slight problem with reading too quick, then jumping to conclusions... heh... Well everybody, let's form an angry mob and smite the cheaters!! Or get a sandwich! ... or both!

I don't mind that the prices are less. I only answer a Trivia when I know the answer ... and that is not very common for me. I suck at Trivia. That's the reason I'm glad that it will not be giving such rare items any more.

For me, Trivia is about guessing the answer and just be happy when I answered it correctly. As long as the price is a nice item. I don't give much about the sp that is givven.

well i put my answer in but I'm not sure if its right or not ...i will just have to wait to see
I made a mistake yesterday and posted without thinking about what I had typed. I posted in the help forums to get it removed and looked for a staff member which at the time none were around. It is still there. :/ What I posted could be seen as a hint but I wasn't worried about others only myself at the time. I apologize, I get caught up in doing the trivia's and may post something out of not thinking before posting.
Wow, some people are beyond pathetic. The fact that people stoop to cheating on the trivias goes to show how lazy they are. NONE of these trivias are impossible to answer, people just need to put a little bit of time and effort into find the answers instead of taking the easy way out. And if you end up getting the answer wrong you can always just BUY the prize. What a novel idea.
What fun is it in cheating people, seriously? So you can make a few thousand extra sP? If you are that in need of sP, do some work and start restocking. The trivia is supposed to be for fun, not so you can share your answers with everyone else. That totally ruins the fun behind figuring the trivia out for yourself. I don't know about everyone else, but I really enjoy trying to find the answer for myself. If I don't or can't, oh well, there is always next time.

I think Wolfpaw has said it all, and said it very well. These people are this way, not only in games but in real life as well. The way we play games, sports, etc. tend to reflect who and what we really are.
I had a discussion on another site about the blatant thievery of the 7th Harry Potter and the posting on the web by pirate sites, and was told that "if it's out there, you can expect it to be stolen. After all, she's rich, so who cares?" It's the same mentality--and better not leave your cars on the street--after all, they're "out there."
I'm just sorry to see items people dream of getting become unobtainable except for those with a lot of Sp when Trivia was a least a hope that something wonderful would show up as a prize. Game is still fun, though!

As long as we're on the subject, answer formats are nice when needed and if posted as part of the trivia question itself from the beginning, but once the question is posted, no clarification of any sort should ever be given, whether posted here, or even in Smail, no matter how many people whine. It's really not fair to those people answering the trivia before the clarification is given.

To clarify, yes exact answers were being given, and, yes, as those who were doing it are aware, it was off-site, so we can't necessarily track who all of them are here. @ wolfpaw - I agree that hard questions aren't a valid reason to cheat. If the question is so hard that you can't figure out where to start looking for the answer or you can't find it after looking, then just skip it and move on. The item may be nice, but it's not like it'll be impossible to obtain. Eventually, deflation happens, and one will not -die- if they don't immediately have the item.

The Blue Building password is indeed automatically saved for you, and that requirement marked as Completed. You will get it randomly at the Blue Building while you're checking to see how many more requirements you need to complete. It will say that you should write it down, but you don't actually need to, because it saves it. I can still remember mine though LOL

Cheaters, auto buyers, scammers, extreme under cutters, the over pricers...as a site grows you're gonna find these losers. And the sad part is that they are not only like that here on a game site, but they are the same in real life too....they have no respect, not even for themselves. Yet, ya ever notice how they are the first to yell loud when and if someone ever does anything to them.
AND if you think a question is too hard, then just don't try to do it. Someone posted that the staff should have expected people to cheat because the questions were to vague and hard...excuse me, but that is no reason to cheat ! Nothing wrong with not doing the trivia, but there is something very wrong with cheating! People that think it's ok to cheat and just take cause things aren't the way they would like them to be should not be tolerated at all in any way!

I'm pretty sure the BB doesn't save the password for you. When I was given mine, it told me to write it down as I would need it later. Just thought I'd let you know, even though it's not technically on topic. ^^;
@Secatuers: I dunno if the BB saves the password for you. I hope it does. If it doesn't, I been wasting loads of money raising my pet's stats for no reason at all. I'm not a battler. Bleh.
And, to keep this post relevant to the overall conversation, a question: Did the cheaters at least get warned?
And, to keep this post relevant to the overall conversation, a question: Did the cheaters at least get warned?
;-; Missed the belt! I really wanted that one. sigh And stupid cheaters. I don't get why people have to go and do that. -.-
Wow, I found the item for the last trivia, and wrote "charlie" because I though they were looking for the name of the pet, not the name of A pet. xD Boo to cheaters. Yay for finding the answer to this trivia. -dances-
I believe what DebiLee meant by "blatant cheaters" posting answers was something that was found off-site, somewhere in the big WWW. Like when the Trivias were Non-Subeta Related and people would post in Yahoo Answers and such, looking for or giving the answers. There was no way to track which Subeta user(s) did it, otherwise, I assure you, they'd have been frozen for it. And DebiLee already warned us, until the off-site cheating ceases, our Trivias won't be giving out the awesome, old, desperately-coveted re-released items a lot of us crave. Like erm, me. So stop already! lol

P.S. I agree - perhaps the rules on the Trivia page should be reworded to reflect that giving hints or helping others look for/find the answers, even though they aren't actually giving out the answer, is still cheating.

I agree that it should be said not to give out hints on the trivia page, although i would have thought that would be obvious.. but yeah, it's a good idea.

i think i messed up once and mentioned harry potter about one quiz,saying i had never read it before. because everyone had started talking about harry potter and so i joined the conversation. not really thinking about the whole quiz aspect of it and lucky for me the answer ended up NOT having to do with it at all. i had only thought of it later,that i probably shouldnt have said that and i felt bad,even though it seemed everyone was HPing ;

Twixy is sad now.
Stupid cheaters. :K
Stupid cheaters. :K
@ Armageddite - I do believe in the warning system. However, I feel that if the staff says they'll freeze users for something, then they should. Mind you, it's stated that giving out the answer is what's wrong, not giving hints. In my opinion, it should be changed to include both very clearly. I did read that you got a warning for giving out a hint, and I can see why you feel so strongly about the warning system. I would not say that you should have been frozen, as it only says those that give out the answer directly will be frozen. Perhaps I misread and nobody explicitly gave out the answer?
That is sad! I didn't get the last trivia (even with the answer), but whatever. I answer those I can, and leave the others.
Hmmm. I think I got this one. Moving air. It makes sense.
As for the cheaters, I know they were just trying to be helpful, but it is against the rules to give out answers. Just like you can't say what's inside the BB. Grrr. I wish I knew what was in there. I lost the password, and my chance to get inside, when my laptop died.
And, it cut off my post. Evil commenting thingies.

@viciousmiss: You don't agree with the warning system? If subeta just froze everybody who did something wrong, there wouldn't be as many players today.
Thanks for not ending the trivia. I really look forward to trying to figure them out. I seem to always give up when it comes to math tho and it isn't fair if people cheat when sometimes I spend hours looking for the answer!
I'm confused. If the staff knows there was cheating occurring, then why not just freeze the proven cheaters (since it does say on the trivia that those caught cheating will be frozen) and continue the trivia like usual without punishing the masses? It would serve as a wake-up call to those that were somehow not caught, while not ruining the prizes for those that play fairly.
Though I'm glad that you didn't do away with the trivia completely (that would be horrible to those trying to get into the Blue Building), I agree with Tabbi. This is way too much like grade school, where the majority are treated with unfairness due to what a minority has done.
And there's my opinion. Please note that it's not meant to sound hostile or in any way offensive. I just wanted to state my beliefs on the matter.

Hm. Actually, disabling comments might not be such a bad idea since most of the 'hints' are given out here. Then again, there's always the forums... Personally, I don't really see any need for comments on the trivia seeing as how we can't say much about the current question. If others have questions on the last trivia, there are usually boards about it up.
So you're saying I might do it again? After being warned and everything?
BlueGreenGrey while I believe what you posted is correct, and I fully agree with the letter and spirit of it, what is said on the trivia page is "You are not allowed to give out the answers for the trivia. If you are caught, you will be frozen!" Some people could read that and think hints, "pointing in the right direction" and so forth are permissible, so long as the ANSWER isn't given. I think there really ought to be a FAQ or something laying out the specific rules for the trivia and for posting in the comments for that matter.
What you wrote is pretty much common sense to me, but common sense isn't always as common as we'd like.

Trying again: It's probably better to report people you think were cheating quietly than pick a fight on the news post.

What the. Like half my comment didn't post, lol.
The Angelic sneaker is somewhere on the re use prizes list, if and when this nonsense ceases. I agree on the point about cheating on a virtual site for pixels and non existent money; I don't get it either.

Oh my, I can't believe some people were actually cheating on the trivias! That's just sad! ...ah well, I don't care if the trivia reward is less than before. It's still fun trying to work them out and all. And this new one looks pretty fun! (Not sure if I'll actually be feeling that way later on...if my search comes up with nothing. )
Wow, I'm finding this one tricky...o_O Cheaters, you've got enough willpower and time to find these yourself. :] That's all I'm going to say.
And the idea of a Trivia is for the question to be related to at least somewhat obscure knowledge, that's the point of a trivia question; it's not a handout.
I love all the trivias Even the ones i get wrong. They are fun to lookup plus teaches me alot about subeta
The questions are not especially vague or misleading, but, even if they were, then that would justify cheating? Try telling that to someone giving you a college exam!
'very few truly rare items will now be being given' - there goes my hope of angelic sneakers EVER been given as a prize. -le sigh- oh well. its better than trivia prizes not been given out at all and the trivia's discontinuing.. i don't particularly want this 'mud pie' as much as i like pie.. this doesn't interest me much aha... i'll wait for the next one.. if there is one. o.o

where is the interest to cheat? on a VIRTUAL site for some VIRTUALS pixels ?
Thank you cheaters. Because of you, everyone will pay for you! Grrr.
Thank you Debilee, for not ending the trivias. I will always have the same fun to answer them. :]
Now I just have to buy the pirate chains belt...Since I put "computer geek" as a answer. hahah.

I'm just hoping that they reconsider and stop. That's why I thought my just not doing Trivias at all would be totally unfair, as they're needed for Blue Building access. The next few after this one might be a tad difficult; there are some pretty good ones in there a the moment.
Your answer augustus for the trivia was correct! Youve been given an Pirate Chains Belt and 1225sP
..oh dear lord.. twitch MUST. HAVE. PIE.
p.s. to all cheaters, thanks for ruining the game, jerks.

Well what do except given how vague and misleading the recent questions have been. Stop the if, but and maybes and linking them to things that almost no one knows about and then people wouldn't want to cheat.
Now rather than fixing the issue you just make it cheap, trashy and not worth the bother.
IMO

It's about time something was done about the cheaters!

Also, people, PLEASE do not give HINTS in your posts, whether News Comments or Forums, or even other sites across the vast WWW... ALL you are allowed to say is whether you found it difficult or hard, that you did/did not find it yet, etc. You cannot tell people where to look or what to do to find the answer or point them in the right direction. I keep seeing people tell where they looked, what they've been trying, even people on the last one saying, "Oh no - I messed up and put in the actual item name, now I won't get the prize!"

That's. Considered. Cheating. Watch what you say - NO HINTS ALLOWED! Everyone must find their own answers! When you help others get the answer, you've just made the prize less valuable and rare. YOUR reward for figuring out the Trivia is suddenly worth WAY less! Stop doing it to yourself and everyone else!

Thank you SO much, DebiLee, for not ending Trivias entirely, though it would have been justified. I love me some Trivias and I'm glad they're still a part of Subeta!

Now that some people have ruined the trivia, everyone gets punished. Why am I suddenly reminded of 5th grade all over again?

Aw that sucks. I came here at first to say how excited I was with my new belt...and then I read DebiLee's post. It makes me sad that people were cheating. It makes it unfair for those of us that actually follow the rules.

If I dont find the answer, I usually enter something naughty just to get a chuckle
How dumb can people get, I'd like to thank them for ruining the prizes for the honest players. frown
Hopefully we'll get our good prizes back one day.

..people honestly expect to get by with cheating?? thats..sorry,but thats kind of..well,stupid ^^;; if i cannot find the answer myself i just..dont answer. or i take a wild gues at it at the most. and then if its a prize i really want i try to buy one later. just..oy..people..oy. thanks very much for not doing away with the trivia totally, debi ^^v
This sucks.. Some people are just so greedy and self-involved, they're just ruining it for the rest of us, trying to play fair x/
Hmmm... Now I forgot how many there were before... but I'm guessing that around 500 were won possibly.

Yes, thank you for not canceling the trivia; I love a good challenge and then the nice payoff for all the hard work one takes in figuring it out. Although if we had prizeless trivia; I would still enjoy trying to figure it out.

I hate it when people cheat, they justy ruin it for everyone else. But thanks for not canceling trivia Debilee. ^^
