The Senior Officer

You discover a sword dug partly into the ground at the center of the abandoned island with an unextinguish-able flame. A little diary sits next to it, far enough not to be consumed by the dark fire.

To my first friend, with the widest smile and cheery disposition... may you always be as passionate as the red rose in my hand, wherever you may be. You were the heart of the family, and I thank you for the sincerity you've always displayed.

To my big brothers, who guided me through thick and thin. Even though we were all of different backgrounds, we were still family. May you both always be as bright and amazing as the yellow and blue roses on a perfect day. Thank you for those lovely adventures.

To the lover who was almost meant to be. You were the dark horse, as dark as this black rose, yet you had disappeared at the climax of my story. I hope life treated you well, as it did for me. Knowing you, you would have tamed all seven seas by now.

And to the white rose, though not as innocent, you were what completely changed my life. You were the last one standing beside me, with your hand clenched around mine. You led us all to the best of your abilities, and that's what I loved about you and more. I hope to see you again and again, however many the gods will allow me to kiss you like it was our first time.
