Matthias spent the early years of his life knowing he didn't belong. Though loved by his father, the Akagi clan refused to accept a half-demon. Especially an illegitimate one. They had a thousand year bloodline to protect. As soon as he was old enough, Matt was sent away to boarding school in England. Finding some acceptance in his mother's homeland, Matt decided to stay there and build his life far away from the Akagi clan.

Starting a family wasn't exactly part of his plan, but when his girlfriend of several years became pregnant, Matthias stepped up to the plate. He was excited to be a father! He married Trisha and with the arrival of their daughter Kara, he had his own little family. For a time, he was happy...
