Nostalgic Mallarchy
GreenRowanSo he was born from wood to life, in Vanya's hands, embued with the essence of Melody, and surrounded by the elves and other toys. Wisecracker, deciding he was silly enough to need a best friend, named him QuackUp, and appointed himself to be his constant companion. Pollie and Vocabulary, born at the same time, snuggled close to him in the warmth of new friendship. Emily and the rest of the toys just thought of him as one of Vanya's new arrivals.
But the little Mallarchy was more than they ever could have dreamed. Inside his solid pine body nestled a single knot shaped exactly like a heart. It gave him courage, darling, wisdom, and, most of all, the ability to love. He was, in short, a hero, and one who would soon be tested. For outside the magic of the toyshop, dark forces were at work, ones who would overlook, to their regret, a tiny champion made of wood.
