Jack Splatter is a character in Alice: Madness Returns. He appears to be a sexually frustrated pimp and criminal who is a frequent visitor to the Mangled Mermaid, and holds a grudge against Nan Sharpe for not offering enough "services" for his pay.In the second chapter of the game, Alice Liddell walks into the Mangled Mermaid to find her sobbing on the floor, having been beaten by Splatter. When Alice tries to defend her, he knocks her unconscious and sets fire to the establishment.Splatter is also seen recruiting more prostitutes in London, offering Alice a job instead of her work at Houndsditch Home for Wayward Youth.The last time Splatter is seen is in a Policeman's memory of when Alice had been having an episode of mania on the streets. During the night, the police had caught up to Splatter for killing Long Tim. Police were impressed by Alice's rant against his fiendish ways until she passed out. Considering his name, the era he's living in, his connections with Nan's whorehouse and prostitution, he could be a clever allusion to Jack the Ripper. An interesting bit of trivia, John Tenniel, the artist that drew the pictures for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, also drew political drawings and posters about Jack the Ripper and the incompetence of the police not finding him. Whether this was all intential by American McGee is not known, but it certainly is interesting at any rate. His name is similar to the name of Jack Splatera film Last Action Hero.
