snow falls gently over the frozen landscape as a pair of glistening eyes peeks out from their hiding place inside the small dark opening. the small hole belonged to a cave dug into the side of a large intimidating icy mountain. there wasn't much to be found inside of it. a large pile of snow was stacked in one corner surrounded be round snow balls that looked like pillows, and a snow white teddy bear perched atop it. a white snow fairy made her home atop an icy shelf on one of the walls. on the small ice shelf the snow fairy sat atop her own bed shaped pile of snow. across the room an identical icy shelf held the only other decoration within this cave, a somewhat normal looking rock with the most beautiful snow flake crystallized on the front of it. as simple of a home as this small cave filled with snow and its few treasures was, the owner of it loved and cherished every inc dearly. His name was Frosted a beautiful and majestic Glacier Legeica and he was proud to call this spot his home. simple were his needs since the mountain provided him with what he needed to survive. to him this frozen mountain was a beautiful quiet paradise. however he was not unwise to the concept that this mountain was deadly to others. his eyes sparkling like gems as he peered out of the cave that was his home he prepared for his daily routine. his strong powerful legs carried him up the side of his mountain where he stood watch over the vast ice fields. deep within his bones a he could feel that a great icy storm was approaching, he wasn't alarmed the cold didn't bother him at all, but what was that in the distance? he stretched his neck forward and squinted to see through the snowy wind that was beginning to rage. there it was sticking partially out of the snow, something out of place, something that didn't belong in the ice fields, a brightly colored scrap of fabric fluttering wildly in the icy wind. wasting no time his powerful hooves clopped down the side of the mountain. racing towards his destination, he almost ran straight into flakes, the oddly named snow fairy was his roomate, partner, and only friend. she widely beamed and flew circles around his head chattering and blinking the magic light that glowed around her. "is someone in need? is it a rescue? are you going to save someone? can i help? can i help? can i help?" she chattered. a simple swift nod of his heady was the only reply and then they were both off, racing through the icy wind with flakes magical glow lighting the way though the thick icy foggy wind. Flakes stopped midair and slowly circled the fluttering piece of fabric that was now almost completely buried in the snow. coming to a halt Frosted bent down and sniffed the scarf, then gently using his front hoof he dug the snow away carefully. flakes kept close lighting the area and watching nervously as he dug. frosted had to dig quick if he wanted to save the buried victim but had to be very careful since his hooves were razor sharp and he could just as easily shred the poor soul to shreds. thankfully this was not his first rescue mission and with skill full expertise he quickly dug out the small blue frozen woman. her skin looked such a dark blue that frozen and flakes exchanged saddened looks, they were to late. with a heavy heart frozen finished digging her out and hoisted her upon his back, even though she had not lived he could at least take her frozen body to town so that she could be buried by her family. it was a sad walk to town he had heard of and even seen a few creatures who had died at the icy hands of the deadly arctic frost mountains, but it never got any easier. a thick steam flew from the chimney of a cabin at the edge of town, a small town healer (who usually helped those that frosted brought to him) lived here. the healer opened the door and held his arms out to recieve frosted's load. she was tipped off be the legecia's sad expression but carried the cold blue woman to the hearth of her fireplace anyway leaving frosted outside at the door entrance. he was to big to enter the cabin, the pass off had been wordless and he turned sorrow still in his heart and took a step back to his home. just then the cottage door opened and the healer called out to him, "wait, please come back, she want's to thank you for saving her" ........ wait, what? she's alive, she's okay?" flakes exclaimed. they turned and raced back to the cabin. frosted stuck his head in through a window the healer opened and there she was siting up, wrapped in a blanket by the fire, holding a cup of cocoa and weekly smiling. but her skin it was still a deep blue and her lips still an icy color, she looked just like a frozen corpse but she was living. "how? you looked frozen to death?" flakes voiced his confusion for him. the woman's lips quivered as she struggled to warm up, my na, na, name is laura she shivered and my skin is always this color it is a galactic skin tone. i was foolishly exploring in search of polar water and didn't expect the storm, i was really unprepared and if you hadn't come along i wouldn't have made it. i was to frozen to say anything when you dug me out, but i'm feeling much better now. she reached a hand out and gently touched frosted's muzzle, "thank you, i owe you my life, i wish i could repay you some how." flake's flew in the window, circled laura and then landed upon frosted's head. "don't worry about it, it's what frosted does, always has, always will. he watches over the mountain and insists on helping and saving anyone who can't stand the cold like we can. i guess you can call it his own lot in life. he was upset because he thought he failed to save you, your life is more than enough thanks for him." the little fairy chattered at laura. She turned to her small still partially frozen bag and riffled through it, then laura pulled a small plastic baggie from it. she returned to the window and held the small bag out to frosted. it was a small baggie of shiny galactic wrapped chocolates. "i know it's not much, but please take this as a token of friendship. i will always be grateful to you for your help and will never forget you." she wiped a tear from her eye. frosted gently took the small gift and turned to head back home. she was safe now and his work was done. the two hero's returned home to their mountain and to their continued duty. they would continue to watch over the icy land and protect all who travel there. after a long and eventful day frosted returned home to his small ice cave. Flakes flew happily up to her little bed and snuggled in for some well deserved rest. Frosted walked over to the other shelf, the one with the lone trinket upon it and then sat the bag of chocolates next to the snowflake rock. stepping back he surveyed the small cave and the few treasures it held. there wasn't much here but everything in here were his preciouse treasures, and he was proud to call it home.
