Pink is the new black.
Some may say that pink is girly, and I agree, but it's so much more. On the surface it's a glossy, prissy shade of red that begs "Look at me! Look at me!" It's easy to blow it off as a shade only for little girls who want to be princesses. But if you dig deeper, if you look a little closer, you'll see that it has as many facets as any other color.
I was born Dawn. Growing up I enjoyed it. I was able to wear lots of beautiful dresses that matched my fur. I spent hours shopping with my Owner. She tried on dresses made for humans and I tried on dresses made for Jollins. She praised me and told me I was the "the most beautiful Jollin she'd ever seen!" It built up my confidence, and I knew that I was beautiful. Even from a young age, I knew that my best asset was my soft pink fur covered in darker pink spots.
There comes a time when every young Jollin must go off to school. I was eager to leave my Owner and go out into the world. She hugged me, gave me a kiss, and smoothed down the fur that always seemed out of place on my head. "Don't forget to clean your ears every night," She said. I reached up and touched them, slightly embarrassed. I loved my Owner but I didn't enjoy being babied at my age. "I won't. Thank you for everything." I threw my arms around my Owner in one last embrace. She said "I'll be here whenever you need me. I can't wait for you to see the world." She kissed my cheek and handed me my duffel bag. It was shaped like a Sheeta and had been my friend since I was a tiny Jollin. With a smile and a wave, I left the only home I'd known and got on the bus for school.
To be continued :)
