Race: Half dog demon, Half Human.
Inuyasha half dog demon, half human. His mother was human, while his father was a very strong demon lord. His father actually died the day that he was born. He had been fighting a war to protect the people of his lands, when he heard that his lover and newborn son were in danger he rushed to their side to protect them. Thus, Inuyasha grew up never really knowing his father.
His mother was a noble and he was raised among them, although he was shunned because he was half-demon. Although his mother tried to protect him there were some things that she could not do. She died when he was fairly young, leaving him to fend for himself.
Because he was shunned by both races he became rather antisocial. He thought that the only way for him to gain respect was through strength. His began chasing after the Shikon-No-Tama(The Jewel of Four Souls), a magical artifact that could turn him into a full demon. He fell in love with the Priestess that was protecting it and their love met a tragic end. (I want to keep the spoilers to a minimum.
Thanks to a young girl from the future, the wounds in his heart started to heal. He now travels with Higurashi Kagome, a modern day priestess. Sango, a demon exterminator. Miroku, a womanizing monk. And finally Shippo, a child kitsune. Although his social skills could still use more than a little work.
