In the year 2157, a mutated form of the septicemic plague rages through the world's population. She is an angry foe and resistant to antibiotics. Dubbed the Harlequin Infection, the disease is quick to spread and always fatal.

Unable to sustain against such measures, humankind becomes endangered. Despite this, many remain who seem unaffected. Young and old, they are the asymptomatic carriers who by trick of genetic fate have contracted the disease but suffer none of the ill effects they pass onto others.

Outbreakers, they're dubbed. Killers.

When Earth's survivors relocate to colonies off planet, they are the trash left behind. They are the forgotten, the toxic.
