Saros: the period after which eclipses repeat

Saro has two forms, a light and dark form. The relationship between the two forms is similar to that of a werewolf's human and animal counterparts. During the time between the two 'eclipses' he can change form freely and has full control of both forms. However, once a year the beast has full control of its host. Saro loses control of the creature, and cannot stop the change. For that whole day the creature reigns, doing what it wishes.
Luckily, the Eclipse happens the same time each year, so Saro can predict its coming and move away from anyone in danger long before the change. This makes him a very distant character, because he wouldn't dare warn those close to him. They may follow him, and lose their lives to the dark beast's fury.
