Capt. Keelhaul owns the MV Merana; a merchant ship paying homage to the sea goddess in the hopes of safe voyage. The Merana hauls various cargo from all over subeta, but calls the port of Shadowglen her home. Regular trips are taken to Port Plunder, though Keelhaul is not a pirate himself.

Keelhaul is a friendly fellow, which makes it all the more surprising to hear him bellowing orders to his crew. He has an authority complex, feeling ill at ease when not in command or when faced with someone superior to him. He sees himself as a natural born leader, despite the fact that his ego is what led to his death in the first place.

Despite undeath, Keelhaul is a cheerful individual, especially when out at sea. Drinking and playing card games late into the night is one of his greatest pleasures, and he enjoys spending time with his crew.
