Looks and Personality:
Noel is a young man with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a black V-neck shirt designed with tribal patterns and a pair of angel wings on the back, along with a simple pendant. He wears a metal bracer on his left arm, a ring on his right hand, and wraps his right arm with cord. He wears large blue sirwal-style pants with decorated hems, and low-cut sandal-like leather shoes. A green pouch and hunter's knife are attached to his belt in the back, which itself is adorned with small lavender ties made of cloth. Under the angel wings on the back of Noel's shirt and on his dagger, there are lines of Etro script.

Noel is a cocky, cheerful, confident but soft-spoken person. He is a self-sufficient hunter and a fighter. Due to the effects of a time paradox, Noel suffers from memory problems. Coming from a future where humanity is almost non-existent, he has some trouble with his speech, so he tends to speak in a straightforward yet fragmented manner, but he is always excited to go to new places and meet new people. Noel is defined by his strong determination to protect others, evident by how he is protective towards Serah despite hardly knowing her. He is also able of asserting himself to others, and remaining calm and collected when facing people with provoked anger, such as the members of NORA.
In a similar manner to Lightning, Noel firmly stands by his beliefs and morals. As a remnant from his time period, Noel strongly values life and is reluctant to hurt other people unless forced to. This makes him have an initial dislike for Snow for his brash personality, always believing himself to be "the hero," and seemingly abandoning Serah and leaving her to fend for herself.

"In Order to Change the Timeline to Fix the Past, What Must Be Sacrificed to Save the Future?"
In 700 AF, Noel is one of the last human to be born on Gran Pulse, as disease and monster attacks have slowly caused the human population to decrease. By the time that Noel was 18 years old, there was only three people still alive in the world - himself, his friend Caius Ballad, and Yeul. Noel was training to be Yeul's Guardian under his friend Caius's tutoring, but when he learned that he had to kill his friend in order to gain the power of the Guardian, he refused, as with only them and Yeul being the last living humans, Noel treasured human life. However, before the birthday, Caius forced Noel to fight him, and Noel was forced to protect himself. After that, Caius left the Dying World, saying that he was going on a mission to save Yeul from her fate, leaving Noel disappointed and somewhat annoyed of what Caius had did, but he planned to become stronger so that he would eventually be able to defeat Caius but not kill him.
That night, Yeul celebrated her fifteenth birthday, and while it was just the three of them, she was happy, though, as Noel would find out, this was the last happy day for her. A few days later, Yeul saw a vision of the future and recorded in the Oracle Drive before she died in Noel's arms. She told the tearful Noel that her vision was happy and died in his arms when she was just fifteen. It was then that Noel discovered the truth about Seeresses and their fate as well as what his friend Caius meant about his mission to save Yeul. However, if that happened, the timeline and the past itself would be warped, and it wasn't known what would happen then. Thus, Noel decided that he would have to find a way to Valhalla and ask Etro to give him the gift of the Guardian so that he could stop Caius from doing so and began to search for a way into Valhalla. However, Noel nearly died before Etro did finally open up the gate, and Noel was transported through the Historia Crux to Valhalla.
When Noel reached Valhalla, he was nearly unconscious and fell through the gate but was rescued by Lightning, who was fightning Caius in his Chaos Bahamut form, on her own White Bahamut. After defeating Caius temporarily, the two retreated back to Etro's Shrine, where Lightning asked Noel to bring her sister, Serah, to Vahalla and gave him Mog, a Moogle, that she said would be Serah's new "good luck" charm. Heading to a gate, Noel looked back once more as he saw Lightning once again fighting Caius and promised that he would bring Serah to her before heading into the gate.
Noel eventually landed in New Bodhum just in time to save Serah from a monster attack. After the battle, Noel told Serah that Lightning was waiting for her in Vahalla and wanted her to come there. Though the rest of NORA weren't trusting of Noel, Serah did, and the two headed on into a gate to find Lightning and stop Caius. They eventually met up with Snow as well, though he was on a mission himself to save Fang, Vanille, and Lightning and disappeared later on.

However, what price would Serah and Noel have to pay in order to stop Caius and save the future? That would be told during another time on another day...
