The companion that Hawk keeps with him was found as a chick in a battlefield and raised by him. It acts as an ally in battle, distracting enemies while Hawk cuts them down with his pair of massive Wilgis, but also as a friend to him. As Hawk is dying, he says that his companion will carry his soul home and hopes that his tribe will accept him then.
Slasher Hawk is the first member of Black Chamber fought by Solid Snake in the game Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel. He is Australian in origin and was raised within an Aborigine tribe that revered Hawks as a deities. As a child, he was abandoned by his parents and taken in by a couple within the tribe. Despite his attempts to learn their customs and be accepted by his peers, Hawk was thrown from the village when his adoptive parents passed away. He wandered for many years before being recruited into Black Chamber by Black Arts Viper.
