- Is a Brigante; the Brigantes were a Celtic tribe in the North of England.

- Travels to the south of England (Britannia / Roman Britain).

- Engaged to a blacksmith a little older than her who is absolutely devoted to her. She doesn't love him back; she likes him, but as a friend. Her parents urged the marriage to create a desired union between the two families.

- Has a lover. Her fiance finds out about it by seeing them together.

- She kills someone (self defense or something, something suspicious about it maybe); her fiance takes the blame and won't listen to her pleas to tell the truth. He's burned in a wicker man for murder.

- Her lover, a very jealous man, betrays her and reveals she committed the crime (finds evidence in the woods, or saw it happen, or sees her guilt).

- Accused of murder and shunned for letting the innocent burn, she is to be burned in a wicker man as a sacrifice to the gods the following evening (criminal sacrifices please the gods more than innocents).

- Her house/cottage/shack/whatever is guarded, but she slips away and runs full-speed away. Takes a horse from someone's barn.

- Ends up tired, broken, and dirty in Roman Britain. Her horse dies (worn out) and she walks until she collapses. Wakes up being cared for by Roman women. Tries to speak Latin to them, gets laughed at for her accent and bad grasp of the language, but one woman tells her they are Roman concubines for the soldiers.

- Brigantes and Romans were definitely not allies, and she feels the Brigantes betrayed her, so she joins the Roman army.
