- gets in an explosion (regulated by government to weed out 'dissenters' [need better name though for rebels idk]) when walking home from school (which is purely digital, pretty much) because she takes a shortcut home every day even though the small batch of trees/grass she crosses through is pretty much off limits because everyone knows it's pretty much a 'dissenter' area
- soldiers and gov. officials come by the blast sites about 20 minutes after it's set off to see what has happened; they find regina and her ID and realize she is a legit citizen and not a 'dissenter' (who have no IDs and thus no identity, more or less)
- taken quickly to a hospital and parents are called, but regina's body was damaged beyond repair. interestingly enough, her brain is still fine, and even though 'bots' are frowned upon in society because they're not 'real humans', there is no other way to save regina, and her parents opt to turn her into an android - essentially putting her brain in a robotic shell covered with synthetic human skin. these androids DO NOT look like classic silver robots. they look exactly like humans, other than having synthetic hair/skin to cover the machinery, but they do not need a heart to pump blood, and they don't need to breathe/eat/sleep. regina no longer looks like herself, but she is still alive, in a sense.

The last thing Regina remembered was an explosion. It had been a powerful one, shaking the ground beneath her feet, yet it seemed as if the entire ordeal had only lasted for a moment. A bright, hot light had been burned into her retinas, setting everything around her ablaze in a radiant conflagration. And then, with a bone-shattering thud, the world went dark.
