I'm not really sure what went wrong, but I've had this problem ever since I was a kid. I'd be playing cops and robbers with the other kids one minute, and then POOF, standing naked in some forest the next. Time travel sounds like a great thing, but when it's happening to you and you have no control over it, it's not so great. I have found that I tend to end up in familiar places and times more often than not, and that when I'm feeling particularly tired or weak I'm more likely to travel. Other than that and a vague tingling sensation before it happens though, it's a complete surprise. Makes living a normal life pretty tough.
I try to keep some sort of clock on me at all times. It doesn't make much sense, since my clothes disappear when I travel, but if I'm holding onto it, clocks travel with me. They even keep telling time. I've tried taking other small objects with me, but clocks and watches are the only things that will go with me. It doesn't serve much of a purpose...but it's comforting to have one familiar thing when I don't even know what year I'm in.
