Everyone has their calling. Some are meant to be doctors, others teachers, others rocket scientists. Some spend their whole lives wondering what they're meant to do, and some know from the moment they're born.
Catspine was one of the latter; the day he killed his first ratbeast, he realized his calling: surfboard rental clerk. Ever since then, he has rented surfboards with verve and charm, roaring his trademark slogan, "RENT MY BOARDS." His rental business is highly successful, as passing citizens are too frightened to turn him down, whether or not they were actually planning on surfing that day. "TWELVE-TWENTY-NINE," he snarls, as another shiny waxed board is handed to a rosy-cheeked, sobbing child. "RETURN TOMORROW OR DIE."
Not everyone has discovered their calling, and very few can say that their life's work satisfies them. When he settles down in his dungeon at the end of the day, with a glass of Spinez Catsoup in one hand and his dear Runcible at his feet, Catspine knows he's done well that day, and is satisfied, a true craftsman at rest.
