Norri: 21; female; bubbly, thoughtful, and always up for an adventure.
Human form: 5'3", brunette, blue eyes, pear-shaped body type.

         Mama,
It's me, Norri! Still on my backpacking journey!
I hope Ahma and the boys haven't been causing you too much trouble. I know I haven't written to you in almost a year, but that's how things are when you're on the move. I hope you understand, please forgive me as it may be more months until I am able to send another letter. My birthday is next week. Can you believe I'll be 21? I can barely fathom it myself.
Oh, I wish you could meet Valla, I think you'd like her. She's very much like you in that she's determined and head-strong. She's got her feet on the ground and good head on her shoulders as you would say. Not to worry, she keeps me in check like you always did.
Since my last letter things have gotten quite busy. We met a young man named Mared and he's been travelling with us for a while now. He's real handy at how to survive a nomadic lifestyle. Not too talkative though, he likes to keep to himself and doesn't divulge too much on his past. He must've spent an awful amount of time alone. Sometimes I think he needs us more than we need him. Oh, not to mention I crossed paths with Hielle again! Remember me writing to you about him? I met him within months of leaving home in a little woodland town. He helped me get out of a jam. Well, while stopping by in this large desert city, I bumped into him again. Unfortunately he had met Mared earlier that day in the markets and they got into a scuffle. Mared had great objections when Hielle joined our travelling train, but I was able to win him over! They're not friends, but Mared tolerates Hielle's presence for everyone's sake. I really don't get why he doesn't like him though. Hielle's great at keeping our spirits up and of course talking his way out of anything. One time Mared got his brooding, proud self entangled with some local thugs and Hielle saved his butt with his quick toungue. It was quite a sight.
I wish I had more time to write, but I have to end my letter here. I just wanted to let you know that I'm always thinking of you. Please keep safe and I promise to do the same. We've got to get going; off to another town, another city, wherever the road goes; wish us luck!
          With lots of love,
                         Norri

A quick lick of the envelope sealed her letter. Norri held her cup for the warmth a few moments, peering at the little flower petals floating there before drinking the last bit of chrysanthemum tea.

"Anything else, Miss?" asked the tall, perky waitress.
"Oh, no, that'll be it for me. Thank you."
"Alrighty then, I'll bring the check in just a moment."
"Actually, just one thing. Uhm, where's the nearest postal office?"
———————————————————————————–––––––––––––––––––––

She walked the bustling streets alone, humming a playful tune to herself. With the letter off her mind and two hours to herself, Norri wandered into the quaintest of book shops. Perusing the shelves, novel after novel, she searched for a book to jump out at her and whisk her away. Ah! This looks like a good one! After quickly plucking the leather cover off the shelf and paying the gentle shopkeeper, she dove in so deeply that she didn't even notice Hielle come in.

There she was sitting at a tiny table in the corner of the store, head stuck in a book and smiling to herself. He took the chair across from her and stared patiently at the leather bound barrier between them. Ignoring her new table mate, Norri turned page after page until the presence across from her became just too uncomfortable. At the same instant she plopped that novel down, Hielle poked her straight on the nose.

"Ack! What are you doing here and what was that for?
"To snap you out of wonderland. Now grab your new story and let's go. Valla and Mister 'I'm so aloof' are waiting on us," Hielle coolly replied.
Chuckling, she said,"Oh, stop. Give Mared a break, Hielle. He's not used to being around others. He's not a charmer like you."
"Hah! Soo... you think I'm charming, eh?"
"We'll continue this later. Scoot scoot, get your butt out of the chair. Like you said, it's time for a new town and the others are waitin' on us."

As she nervously packed her new novel away, Norri glanced at the calm and collected Hielle only to give an awkward smile. And with that they left the little shop to rejoin their makeshift pack, the bubbly Norri blushing the whole way. This is going to be a long walk back, isn't it?
