As one of the guardians of the underworld, it is Mineshafts job to keep the demons from crossing over to the other side of the realm. Hell would be set loose all over the planet. This beast cares not a thing for the creatures that inhabit the middle between heaven and hell. Though only about himself and killing the beings that surround him. Although already dead, the beings that surround him can die over and over as punishment for their crimes in their previous life. They all wish to escape. Only to meet their doom at the gate.

Hell has no sense of time. No years, months, days, hours, minutes or seconds. It serves to drive its inhabitants crazy. Their fear and anger being absorbed into the greatest evil that there ever was to live. If there were to be love and happiness in hell, it would dissipate into nothing more than a barren wasteland. Is there any hope to save the creature with a heart filled of darkness and anger? That is where his story begins. A tale of love, deceipt, sorrow and could it be? Happiness?

Shadows flickered off the lights of the flame, creatures rustling around near the entrance of hell. No creature has ever exited once they entered the cavern. The gates strong and powerful against any being attempting. On the dirty ground of the cavern a small Angus laid down with a look of pure boredom crossing his features. Next to him stood a huge wolf like creature, pitch black with mist surrounding areas of his body and a matted up tail. Above his eyes he had scars, that seem to have been there years or even centuries. He sat back on his haunches, scanning their surroundings. Waiting, always waiting. Something was always bound to happen in this dank cave.

The young Angus, whose name was Minion looked up to his master, still seeming bored with his surroundings. They had both been trapped in this area for so long. Ordered to guard the gate with their life. Which they still had intact.

"So when do you suppose they will be coming next? And when do you think Hai will be here to take over the next shift? I would enjoy going back to my hole in the wall eventually." Minion said. His voice turning quite dark.

"Ion, if you want to leave then go. Haidizzleku will be here when he will be here. I..." Minshaft trailed off with a snarl as a serpent like creature slithered in through one of the passages. Hissing dangerously at Mineshaft as he started toward the gate. Apparently he was going to try and get passed, most would know better than to try. Mineshaft lunged at the creature and before the creature could even strike, Mineshaft had it by the neck and set his foot on its body. With a hard snap of his jaws, he had the head detached from its body. The rest of the creature going up in flames. Screams were heard moving away from them. Going back the same way from which the serpent came.

"Dont you get sick of this job? You have been doing the same thing for centuries. Could you not just ask for a different job. Like maybe scouting demons on the surface?" Minion said with a shake of his head.

"Don't be a fool. You know i'm bound to this area. The only way to leave would be to die. And I will not have my body be burned to pieces while I become a piece of trash demon." Mineshaft snapped his teeth at the young angus.

"Only saying, you could find a better job than this. Where you could get out and stretch those stiff legs of yours." Minion said with a shrug of his shoulders as he padded away atop the jagged rocks that poked out from the grounds. He had made his way to a smaller crack in the wall and maneuvered his way inside and was gone.

Of course there was always something better. Yet even the thought of asking his ruler for a different position made a sick feeling swarm him. There was nothing else that scared him, maybe his demon lord didn't so much scare him as he did irritate him. The lord was always threatening to throw all of his loyal servants into the pit of fire and watch them suffer with a smile on his face. Yet the only way to leave this big old lump of rock would be to ask. Or to be dragged out, as he could not willingly leave. Yet there was no way anyone would get close enough to him.

A bright light from outside the gate caught his eye. Quickly turning on his haunches he let out a nasty snarl at the intrusion. Two females and a young cub of his kind entered before his eyes dragging behind them a terror to the eyes. It was some demon looking creature filled with eyeballs. It looked to be another of the experiments that was let loose on the world by some scientist. A scientist that kept creating more and more of these foul creatures. The two females, one who looked to be made out of ice and the other who had pale blue fur stepped up to the gate.

"Guardian. I am Hadreniel, the keeper of love. And this here is my sister Gesshoku the keeper of hope. And her son, Fermata. We have come to deliver this creature to your lord. This creature is causing havoc on the middle world and has to be seen to." The female, Hadreniel spoke in a light voice. Her eyes filled with no emotions but anyone could see the care and respect she gave off to others.

"Now why would an angel be dropping off an experiment. They are dangerous and you dont look as much of a fighter as your sister." Mineshaft eyed both of the sisters. As if this was a trick. To him, it may as well be if the keeper of love and keeper of hope were bringing in a beast that must be more powerful than the two combined.

"I did not come to hear your insults. If you wish us to leave then simply take this creature and we shall return home." Hadreniel spoke, her voice still calm. Eyes narrowing upon him. In a way he was quite charmed that she wasn't running away in fear. It was not normal. He padded closer to the gate and closed his eyes, drawing on the powers he carried from the dark lord. The creature dissapearing from before the females eyes and just like that it was gone.

The young cub that had come with his mother and aunt got wide eyed as the body had disapeared. Looking around everyone before bounding over closer to the gate where Mineshaft stood. "How did you do that!? That was so cool! Is that something I could learn when i'm older?" Mineshaft sneered at the cub and moved away from the gate.

"Fermata, leave him be. Come now, we are leaving." Gesshoku padded over to the cub and picked him up by his scruff and marched off.

Hadreniel had stayed where she was for a few moments. Watching as he had walked away. She gracefully lowered her head in thanks and then turned to follow her sister and nephew. For some reason she glaced back once more before she left. Perhaps intrigued by the creature before her. And finally, she then took her leave.

Mineshaft watched as the female left with a spray of bright lights that stung against his eyes. Eyes that were used to nothing but darkness. Once she was gone, a fiery demon moved up the closest cavern towards him. With a snarl, he moved forwards toward the creature. Haidizzleku, a demon which had been one of the experiments of the scientist held no emotion over his face as he came forward to stand at the gate. He was the one experiment that had come willingly to the pits of hell in search of selling his soul for this home. "Your off duty mutt, get lost. Go enjoy rolling around in some mud or something. I will be here when you return." Diz sneered, his voice holding nothing but anger at the moment.

"Learn some respect asshole. Or it will be your head i'm tearing off next." Mineshaft snarled. Then he sauntered off down one of the caverns where he resided on his days off. He made his way into one of the cave like holes in the wall and set his back against the farthest wall behind him. Just as added protection. He was hated among the rotting souls that tried to escape. How many middle years had he been down here? And what if there was a way to get out? As he closed his eyes to rest, a vision took place behind his lids. The female, Hadreniel had it been? She walked before him, in an unfamiliar place. White clouds beneath her feet and a blue sky and sunshine over her and surrounding her. Her eyes were on a jar before her. A jar that was casting out a bright light. So bright in fact that it looked to hold the power of the sun. Melting out eyes or turning others blind. She wasn't alone, her sister sat across from her. Both were talking. Yet he couldn't hear from where he was. Moving closer to the two, he supposed he couldn't be seen or heard or neither of them could feel his presence. Was this a dream? Or was he really there?

"There was light in that montre's eyes. Why do you suppose he would reside down there when he could find a better home else where?" Hadreniel's eyes were focused on the jar, yet she looked up just a small moment to her sister.

"Its seems as though you care for the beast. I have never heard you speak of concern for any creature down there before. Perhaps you have felt the bond?" Gesshoku spoke softly, yet there was a roughness in her features. She was a warrior, there was no doubt about that. Her stance, her special markings across her coat and the look of ice that glazed her eyes assured him of that.

"There was something I felt when I first looked at him sister. A feeling of connection. Like I was mean't to help him. Yet couldn't figure it out. Do you suppose it could be the bond trying to tell me he is the one though? He seems charming in a way, yet he has a hardness about him. What can I really do though? Hes down in hell whilst I reside here in heaven." Addy's heart felt like it dropped as she spoke. She lowered herself to the ground and became silent.

"Well, I have a plan that might come of some use. Seeing as how my mate it one that lives in the middle, this will be a little difficult but maybe we should take a little visit to..." Gesshoku's words drifted off as Mineshaft's eyes darted open. "Damn it!" He snarled, wanting to know more of what they were talking about. A vicious snarl tore from his mug as he grabbed a chunk of rock with his bare teeth and whipped it to the entrance of his cave. Before him, Minion stood with a look of confusion on his face.

"Sorry your highness for waking you." He said with a sneer. "Just thought I would let you know that you drifting off wont do you any good with all of these demons that would love nothing more than to rip you to shreds. Apparently you must have been having a good dream though, or else maybe this job is wearing on you too much. Maybe you could now ask for a different position, hunting those experiments." Minion turned and moved to the entrance and leaned against the wall. Looking out for a few moments.

As if on a cue, a blast of fire hit the wall right above Minion's head. Mineshaft's words had died in his throat as he had been about to tell the nasty little curr off. Yet he quickly leaped forward and grabbed the fur ball by the back of the neck and tossed him back. Around the corner came a huge experiment. It looked to be #932, with just two eyeballs on its lower half. The creature looked at him, then it seemed to give him a evil gron before launching another fire ball right above his head. Rocks rained over his head along with dust as it coated his fur.

"Oh you really do not want to do this right now." Mineshaft snarled, his fangs on full view. He leaped at the creature before it could send another nasty fireball at him. He tackled the creature, snapping his jaw at an open spot where its heart should be. The creature saw his move and when Mineshaft had tackled it, it used its strong arms and threw Mineshaft off and into the nearest wall. Oh and he felt it too, with a grunt as he hit the wall, he felt bones snap in his ribs. That wouldn't stop him though. Been through enough pain his whole life.

He turned just as another bal of fire was launched his way, it flayed some of his hair down to the skin and made him hunch over for merely seconds. Straightening himself, he watched at the creature laughed an evil giddy laugh. Feeding off of his pain and anger. The creature deeply underestimated him though. Never take your eyes off of your opponent even for a second. With that, he pushed himself forward at a run and lunged right at the creatures throat. Crushing it and ripping it out. His claws slashing through its thick skin. The screams from the demon almost made him wither away to cover his ears with his paws. He held on, barely, until the creature stopped moving. Then like all the others, its body became a large flame.

The flame didn't burn him like the other had. He was protected against this dark magic. Yet this one didn't make a sound as the flame carried its way back down the cavern. With that job done, another creature learned its lesson, and yet would be back for more. Mineshaft found himself making his way back to his cave, snarling as the pain rippled through his body, hating the feeling of being bested even just for a moment. Minion had been right though, he had let his guard down. And thats exactly what had happened. He turned toward where Minion had been when the creature had came. Then did a quick sweep of the area. The little ass must have ran off as soon as the creature attacked. So much for a companion.

He was slowly fading into the unwelcome unconscious state that wouldn't help him if an enemy just so happened to come across him at this point. His bones starting mending themselves back together, it was a painful process. The only way to off him would be to rip his body to shreds and burn the pieces. And his last opponent could have done just that. As long as a fire experiment wasn't to come along he would be safe for the moment. His eyes drifted shut, his mind sinking to the back of his skull. Yet what greeted him next was a gentle peace. Something he had always secretly wished for but could never seem to find in his entire life. Flashing to a different place as he had done earlier, something new that he never would have guessed he possessed. He landed back in where must be the heavens. Infront of the female Hadreniel again. This time she was in what seemed like a comfortable cloud home. The walls made of the soft cushioning clouds that they walked upon the first time in his dream. A sigh of bliss slipped from his lips. A demon like him never deserved this kind of luxury. His brotherin would hate it. Yet at the moment he luxuriated in the warmth.

Hadreniel seemed to be sleeping at the moment. Just the sight of her started something up within his body. His hatred and anger at the world melting down to a warm feeling. It was different than what he was used to. A lot different. He settled on his haunches and just watched at the peaceful female slept. A part of him felt like he was being creepy. What was the difference, no one could see him the first time. He didn't think they could see him now.

"So is this really what heaven feels like?" Mineshaft's thoughts left his mouth as the thought passed through his head. All of a sudden Hadreniel's eyes were open, she jolted up with grace but shock. Her eyes searching out an intruder. He shut hit mouth and backed up. The thought of her seeing him made him want to throw himself out of the heavens. There was no way he wanted to be caught spying and let her be known of his presence.

"Hello? Is someone there? I know I heard a voice. What have you come for?" Hadreniel's voice was hard for a moment. She knew she was being watched. And he knew he was probably a very unwelcome visitor. Slowly he backed up a few more steps. Yet she didn't back down. He watched her as she made slow steps around the room. Watched the way her ears perked up and her eyes darted from left to right and back again. Yet she still couldn't see him. He gave a breathy sigh of relief. Yet as soon as it was out he inwardly cussed.

Had she just jumped? Her ears were now laid back against her skull as she bared her teeth. In the next moment her door busrt open which made them both jump. The young annoying cub from the caverns had bounded into the room. A smile covering his maw as he saw his aunt. "Hi auntie Renny. Momma sent me over here to let you know shes going hunting for a bit, she wanted to know if you wanted to go with her." His voice was all chipper and pleasant. The cub then stopped in his tracks as he noticed Mineshaft, the cub could actually see him. "Hi! Its nice to see you again. Auntie i'm sorry for intruding, I didn't know you had company." Fermata said with a look of apology in his eyes.

Mineshaft felt his heart pumping worse than ever before. Still cursing himself silently. Great, now she would know he had been spying on her. Hadreniel had given her nephew a smile until she heard him say that she had company. Her eyes darting to where Fermata was looking but still not seeing him. "Fermata, could you do me a favor and go tell your mother I would like to go with her. And be quick darling." Hadreniel said. He watched as the cub ran out the door, glancing back at Mineshaft once more before he was gone.

"Mineshaft? Are you here? Or am I mistaken? I must be going crazy. If you are here, could you please show yourself?"Hardreniel spoke with gentleness, as if she really wished to speak to him. Yet just as he was about to respond to her he felt a stabbing pain on his side. The sun had just been going down in the heavens. Which may as well mean he had work to do. Another stabbing feeling hit his neck and with that he awoke. His eyes snapping open and he could see Minion before him, just staring at him with a grimace.

"I'm sorry I left earlier. I went to go get help but then I figured you wouldn't want it since you figure that would make you weak. Are you alright now? Its almost time for your shift." Minion said. His voice seemed a tad bit darker than normal. He was hiding something. Yet with a snarl, Mineshaft snapped his jowls at the annoying pest and got up to his feet. He was already healed by now. His wounds all but a distant memory. Heading out from his cave, he headed back to the gate. Diz gave him a once over, nodded and then walked away. Leaving it to him.
