No longer could he see or touch, smell or taste. His reality was one bathed in darkness and impenetrable silence that would leave any sentient creature on the precipice of insanity. Yet he could find himself existing once more when someone picked up the book, opened it and browsed through the faded pages. Through them he could fashion a reality for himself and his new found audience, a fantastic tale full of color and life. It was never quite enough though, never truly REAL, and it was a reality that inevitably came to an end when the pages had run out. Like Prometheus he would be tethered to this book, waiting for that moment when he could BE and knowing it would never last.

More than anything else he craved freedom, the tangible human world and its delectable temptations, the warmth of the sun...all this was wrenched away from him by the mortal plane's miserable inhabitants. His crimes were no greater than that of any warlord's, yet for them he was bound eternally to these scraps of paper, tied together into a book from which he was told he would never escape.

The kitsune uses "紫" ( Murasaki ) as a false name, in reference to Murasaki Shikibu, who wrote The Tale of Genji, largely considered one of the world's first modern novels.

The journal in which 紫 is trapped is unusual in that it was a western product, given as a gift by traders to the Shinto priest.

紫, as he is known, had seduced and married a small time daimyo, who subsequently razed villages in his new found love's name. The kitsune was bound to a blank journal in the early 17th century Japan by a Shinto priest when his true identity ( a 4-tailed nogitsune ) was revealed by a traveling monk. The men recalled the tale of Tamamo-no-Mae, a 9-tailed kitsune who had entranced Emperor Konoe in the 12th century, and acted hastily to imprison 紫 so that history could not repeat itself.

I hope you enjoyed reading my app! I put a lot of heart and research into building this character and I do think Kitsune would be a perfect fit. I regularly create art and stories for my characters, although unfortunately not all of my ideas make it on-site. I tried to do what I could in a short amount of time and I know you were looking for that "right" owner as quickly as possible.
