Story:

When Winthrop was a kid, around nine years old, he met this cute girl and he found her to be pretty and charming. She was accompanied by this woman who he thought might have been her mother. It turned out to be the king's daughter Snow White and the woman was her stepmother Grimhilde. Grimhilde was told by the king that she should bring Snow White out amongst and bond with the people of the Kingdom. Winthrop was as most kids a little shy to begin with, but after a while he dared to approach them and asked Snow White if she wanted to play with him. Her response were to break his spirit in a horrible way as she said to him that she wouldn't play with him since he was merely a peasant and she only wanted to play with other royalties. The way she brushed him off made him feel incredibly sad and he ran back to his dad who was working over in the town blacksmith. But instead he ran straight into Grimhilde and all he managed to do was to give her a really confused look. Grimhilde on the other hand just looked down on him and smiled while asking what was wrong. Winthrop told her how Snow White had just brushed him off and laughed at him saying he was not a prince and how silly he was. Grimhilde then told him to stay put and then walked over to Snow White. Even if there was some distance between them, Winthrop could clearly hear how Grimhilde gave Snow White a hard time and telling her how not to act amongst the people. Then later on Grimhilde came back to him, gave him a warm hug and told him that she had to bring the young princess back to the castle.

A few months later the current royal blacksmith had died in a horrible fire in the forge and the king was looking for his replacement. Winthrop's dad was a well renowned blacksmith and Grimhilde knew this and told the king about him. So a few weeks later the king himself arrived at the town forge and called Winthrop's dad to him and told him he wanted him to be his new royal blacksmith. Winthrop's dad happily accepted the job offer and they both moved into the royal smithy in the outskirts of the village and his dad started working as the royal blacksmith. The smith was about half-way between the village and the castle, beautifully placed upon the banks of a small, crystal clear stream. Even with how young Winthrop was, he had already started learning his father's trade and his first real self-made item was this bracelet. It was a very simple design, but for the first item he made, his father couldn't have been more proud of him. When the king later that year married Grimhilde, Winthrop decided to give his first made item to her as a wedding present as he was very grateful for what she done to him a few months earlier. He hoped she would like it even though it was quite a simple design, but hopefully she would appreciate that it was self-made. When he gave the bracelet to the newlywed queen, she bent over and gave the young boy a gentle kiss on the cheek. This made Winthrop like her even better and further developed his crush on Grimhilde. He just hoped she wouldn't forget about him now that she had become the queen. His fears would soon prove to be unfounded as she would frequently visit the forge where he was taught and worked alongside his dad. She would sit with him as he worked and even though he was young she would praise his work and tell him that he was no less a great blacksmith than his father. All of this would just make Winthrop's feelings for her grow even bigger and he just knew that he would never forget about her.

A couple of years after the marriage the king died in a horrible accident and Grimhilde stopped visiting as often as she used to. Winthrop believed that it was due to her now being single ruler and had more than enough to handle within the castle, but it turned out that no one really ever saw the queen anymore. Years went by without him seeing Grimhilde and he missed her very much. Then about three years after the king's death, Winthrop's father died and he would for the first time, in a very long time, get to see her again. As his father was the royal blacksmith she turned up at his funeral to pay him her last respects. After the ceremony she came over to Winthrop and gives him her condolences and she told him that she wanted him to take his father's place in the smithy. But she didn't give him as much as a smile when talking to him and she barely even gave him a hug. This would turn out to be the last time he saw her for several years. The next year he got a girlfriend and she moved in with him, but he never really loved her. When he wasn't working he spent a lot of time just sitting by the window staring out through the glass and up towards the castle high above the forest. His girlfriend, who was extremely jealous, assumed he had a crush on Snow White as she knew she had spurned him badly when he was just a young boy, but she never thought he was actually dreaming about the queen herself.

Time passed and one rainy and stormy day, about 4 years after his dad's funeral, things were to change dramatically for Winthrop. The young blacksmith had turned 20 and he was already a highly reputed blacksmith in the land. This specific day he was out in the smithy working on a new sword for a noble customer. The thundering noise outside made it almost impossible to hear anything but the weather outside. Then suddenly he heard a noise coming from the open door. He turned around and he turned so fast he managed to grab hold of the red hot blade, but thanks to his thick leather gloves he managed to escape more or less unharmed. The sight meeting him in the open doorway seriously shocked the young man, as there he saw an unidentifiable person hanging on its knees and looked seriously hurt. He ran over to the door and asked the person if they were ok, even though he knew that was a stupid question to ask in such a situation. Winthrop felt so sorry for the person that had stumbled across the doorstep to his smithy and just wanted to help whoever it was, so he decided to lift them up and carry them to a bench nearby the forge where it was warm. As he lifted the person up, their hood fell back and yet again he was shocked when he realized who it was. Winthrop almost dropped her and he had to struggle to maintain standing upright. The person in his arms where the queen herself, and he could not believe that his longtime admiration was right there in his arms.

Seeing how badly hurt she was he gently carried her across the room to the bench and gently sat her down and ran off to grab something soft to lie on the bench so she could lie down and feel somewhat comfortable. The only thing he could find was some hay and some horse blankets, but hopefully it would be enough to make it soft enough. Afterwards he tried to make Grimhilde lay dawn, but she did not want to do so. He tried his best to make her rest, but after a while he sat down next to her and put his arm around her waist, which were followed by her leaning into him and started cuddling up against his warm body. He then put his other arm around her as well and pulled her gently close to him in an attempt to share his body heat with the frostbitten queen. As they sat there he looked down upon her face and he felt a sudden increase in courage and he bent forward and gently placed a kiss on her red lips.

Friends:

It has been so long since the last time I saw you Milady. I was wondering if you had totally forgot about me. Not knowing how you were or not knowing anything about you have been really awful. I am glad you have come back to see me again though *He said and smiled at her* I have been worried sick about you since my father's funeral.
