A quiet falls on the meadow, as little creatures feel the cold gaze of a predator on their backs. In a panic, one breaks a stone stance and flees, leaving a path of quivering tall grass behind it. Knockturne releases the soft wood of the dead tree she calls home, sweeping open her wings just enough to build altitude. She hovers for a moment before folding those same wings in, falling to the earth in a numbing speed as if she were a solid carving. One last glance at her prey before the need to thrust her talons forward is at hand, her wings fully spread to slow and steady her. The feeling of soft flesh between her talons is unmistakable, blood beginning to cool and clot against her skin. Knockturne returns to her tree to pick at her meal, the predator inside satiated for the moment.
