He's Blinded By Science!

His first project was a mechanical creature that he named Klaymen. When Mandark was journeying back and forth to Coalfell he had found the remains of a wolf skeleton and decided it would become his first mechanical animal. Unfortunately he didn't find a complete skeleton like he had assumed he found but believed he could work with what was there. He used the bones as a base and built the mechanics on top of it and made sure they were protected by a metal casing. At the time he couldn't find anything better than rusty and twisted scrap. The first projects are never the best so he carried on to the best of his ability, wishing he was back at the nice lab in Scarset so he didn't have to suffer this embarrassment. It took him around seven months as he had to gather the scrap on his own but once his creation was finished he was ecstatic. He now no longer had to travel alone when gathering supplies and soon ended up sending Klaymen alone on these tasks as he worked on the next creation.

The next was called Project NV which was short for Non-Volatile Random Access Memory. NV's entire purpose would be to store information and recall it when requested since Mandark avoided writing in journals just in case someone unfortunate ran across him and his current home. Mandark used Klaymen to gather some better scrap pieces to work on this particular creature and decided he didn't want hidden animal bones in this one. He wanted pure electronics and metal. Klay went through hell and back to gather the very specific pieces his creator wanted though suffered often in his travels and needed to be repaired upon return. Sometimes Klay was unable to return so Mandark would have to fetch him instead. Mandark never did use the nice hoard of scrap he was using on NV, instead opting to use the trash he had collected to repair the busted mechanical wolf. It took him only a few months to build NV completely since he used what he previously learned on Klay to create a better creature. Now he had a way to keep records of his findings without leaving books around for unwanted eyes to find.

Another mechanical creature that Mandark created was called Project FSM which is short for Full Screen Mode. Mandark had noticed there was some footprints near his hidden home and decided it was time to create a sort of security system and thus FSM was created from the hoard of scrap both Klay and NV had collected over time. He created this one in the shape of a bumble bee as he wanted a bit of a challenge but once again didn't want to use the bones of a creature like he did Klay. The wings were the hardest for him as he didn't have the exact material he wanted and ended up using old flexible plexiglass that he shaped into a dragon wing look. The wings looked a little small though so he made sure to add some boosters to FSM's legs just in case he needed some assistance flying. While FSM does patrol the perimeter around Mandark's lab, he's also sent to retrieve Klaymen when he loses power or gets stuck somewhere. It also allows Mandark to check places outside of the immediate area for stuff he can use in his experimental mechanical creatures.

As of now he has no true plans of returning to civilization for fear he'll be recognized and hunted once again. He has taken note of a strange green and black colored wolf that has been roaming the land nearby for the past while though and has decided it is definitely a threat of some kind due to the odd migraines that occur when he looks at the creature. Mandark hopes to build an army to take the creature down as he can tell it's quite powerful and doesn't know if it will call for back up or not. For now he minds his business and works the days away.
