Samandriel was a good son. He was diligent. Obedient. Everything Heaven would desire one of their soldiers to be.
That is, until Crowley got a hold of him. In the end he was not strong enough to withstand Crowley's influence. He broke, and after only a few months. Not that it matters much, Crowley would have cracked into him and learned much more against Samandriel's will. As he did.
Needless to say, Heaven had to 'let him go.' At the end of it all he was too badly damaged and, however inadvertently, he said too much and let our enemies be aware of some of Heaven's most powerful secrets. There was no fixing him after that. It was a mercy kill.
