Bubby
Legacy Name: Bubby

Known by most of her loved ones as Bubby, my mom crocheted and sewed, even doing repairs for people until she was 90! She loved to read and do crossword puzzles and she collected owls. I loved playing scrabble with her in my youth and later, helping her with crossword clues about current movies & actors.
Bubby knew more words than most college professors. She had a huge dictionary on a side table, in which she wrote new words and annotations! Bubby saved everything and if I ever needed stuff for projects, whenever I visited her she would have a bag of cardboard pieces from socks and toilet paper rolls & she saved the tops of disposable food containers for the kids to use as stands for their plasticine projects. When she found out I play sudoku, she would save a cut out for me from the newspaper.
In her later years, she had an ailment that required she go to the hospital once every 4-6 weeks for an injection right into her eyeballs. Bubby carried around business cards that she would give out there, that said "Happy by Choice" and "Have I told you how much I appreciate you today?" and her favourite (I think) "Keep Smiling". Even when I was a kid she would say stuff like "Smile, it's keeps them wondering" and "Smile, then no-one will know you are mad".
All my kids had keys to her building and apartment, JUST in case they got stuck in the city. Whenever one showed up, she would say something like: there was a sale on shnitzel, let me heat you up some (thus the oven in Bubby's treasures here). My kids joke that if they would say I am not hungry" then she would say: "Ok, how about a piece of pizza?"
Bubby to me means a caring, dignified, lovely person.

I really miss the PEACE I felt at her house.
