It is the rain which inevitably, changes. There is a cadence to the wind in the east, running high over the branches of trees, shaking patterns of leaves on the dusk of the sky. The shock of it all, as lightening, as the attack of color and sound and the pure indestructible force of nature that can bring forth a miracle beyond comprehension. It is the loss, that shaking quality inside her that has her body construct into a circle, pawing uselessly at the ground, looking for reflections, looking to find that secret once again. It's gone, is the quiet certainty, but it had whisked away a part of her, and attached a memory that she could feel, as a rising addiction, that she would never stop watching for.

/"i just want to see that rainbow again," she whispered. The moors were green as the sea, and in the distance the hills looked like waves, an eternal mirage, constantly crashing. The clouds had gathered together, thick and heavy, bringing with them the smell of rain. Her entire body ached, a shudder of electricity running down her bones, straight into the marrow of desire. The silence of anticipation made her blood cry out, her coat muddied and still, still holding the memory of color which had been etched into her skin. As the burgeoning rain grew harder, Kanare barked out a sharp laugh, a type of joyless delight that ran closer to passion. She wasn't sure when she had begun to run into that sea of hills, hardly caring for the purple haze of lavender that stretched beyond her. It wasn't hard to run, as it would have years before, no clumsy fits or flailing, a skid of the paws causing the dirt and mud to rise up unexpectedly, with a crew of laughing siblings. All of it seemed so far away, as if the rain held more than one purpose for her, as if it was washing clear her head, her memories filled with bright color, the taste of an electric shock and life. The mountains in the distant raised themselves up with the passing of time, and Kanare could see amid the rain, that there were strings of light coming down the mountains, and the promise of morning, as the promise of rain, equaled the promise of a rainbow. She kept running.
