Story:
Kichi was born in to a family of gatherers, whom had been perfecting their trade for generations. They had made a living by working outside and gathering both food and materials to sell to the other villagers, as well as the monster hunters. Many, many years ago Kichi's grandfather was saved by one of the monsters out in the land, or at least so she had been told. This happened when her grandfather was a very young boy and the monster saved him from another even tougher monster. What Kichi never got to know was that the monster saving her family line, was killed by the village hunters as they mistook the monster for attacking her grandfather. Kichi Is the oldest of three siblings, she has one brother and one sister and they all loved listening to the stories of their grandfather being saved by a monster so many years ago. Especially the younger ones could listen to that story every night before going to sleep. Kichi on the other hand was not all sure it was a true story or just something her grandfather had made up, but she still loved hearing the story however not as much as her siblings.
One tragic day, Kichi's dad was out in the forest gathering honey and mushrooms, when suddenly a magnificent monster flew into the area he was working. He tried to get up and run for the nearest small cave to hide in, but an old leg injury hindered his movements and he couldn't get up fast enough. The monster violently charged him and started ripping him to pieces. His screams could be heard all the way to the village, but none of the hunters managed to get there fast enough to be able to save him. All they saw was this majestic and huge monster taking off, carrying Kichi's dad in its talons. The sun was reflected in its black, shiny scales and the horns on its head were as majestic as the monster itself. All the hunters just stood there gaping as the monster flew away. They were all sort of happy they never got there in time as none of them really wanted to fight this monster. They just stood there in a mix of great fear and high admiration for such a magnificent creature. Just as the monster was about to head up over the mountains, it swooped down towards the hunters below. It opened its mighty mouth, roared at them and then sent a violent stream of fire towards the hunters, which scattered and fled in every directions.
This incident meant that Kichi had to start working, so she could support her family. Kichi felt that this gathering business sounded really boring, so he/she decided to try her luck as a hunter. she went up to the villages best hunter trainer and asked if she could be trained by him. Kichi was thrilled when the trainer said ‘yes’ and she hoped that he would train her into becoming a good hunter. Kichi's main reason for wanting to become a hunter, was to avenge her dead father, something which she was adamant in doing. She trained hard, every day for many months and her progress were quite formidable, and her trainer kept praising her and her progress. At last, her trainer felt she was ready for her first solo mission and he told her to go out into the forest to hunt and capture the magnificent bird wyvern known as Kut Ku. Kichi went back to her house, geared up and grabbed what aid she needed to fulfil this mission and set out into the forest. Her effectiveness really did show as it only took her like an hour to complete the mission her trainer had given her and she happily returned with a captured Kut Ku.
A couple of years went by and she had so far never failed any mission the village elders had sent her out to do and her reputation amongst the other hunters were ever growing and she had a rather high status within the hunter community. One day things would turn out badly as again she was sent out to protect the village from an approaching monster. As usual, she geared up and picked what she needed to succeed on her mission and set out into the mountains to kill a monster who kept killing the village’s livestock. What she didn’t notice was that both her younger siblings, which now were five and six years old, were following her out without her noticing. After walking around the mountain for a while, Kichi suddenly hears a mighty and rather violent roar behind her followed by what sounded like a small children’s frightened scream. Kichi was quite caught off guard as a children’s scream was the last thing she had expected to hear in this place and she turned around in the blink of an eye and started running back to where she had just come from. The second she rounded an out hanging cliff she noticed this huge orange coloured monster standing with its back against her and looked to be in an attack position. Kichi could however not see who or what it was facing, but from the screams it was most likely a human and she started sneaking closer in hopes to see exactly what it was.
As Kichi made her way around the giant monster, she noticed with great worry that the ones the monster was attacking were her two younger siblings. Immediately she ran as fast as she could in front of him and tried to make it focus on her instead of her siblings and she yelled to them to run off and hide in a tiny cave just nearby. As the monster had turned its attention to Kichi her siblings ran as fast as they could to the cave and crawled inside. When she saw that they were safe, she tried to distract the monster so that she too could run over to the cave as she knew she was not prepared to fight a monster of this calibre.
