It's not the fall that scares me. The fall gives me that wonderfully terrifying sense of having lost all control, or perhaps not needing it. The fall is freedom, pure ecstasy- but hitting the ground is another story.
My descent started a long time ago, even though I wasn't aware of it. She knocked me off of my self-made pedestal with all the grace of the project that had been named after her, and I was so blinded by her magnanimity that I couldn't see it sneaking from below. She was a harbinger, true and true, the Angel of my demise.
