Su's sweet innocence might have addled your first impressions of her. Don't be fooled by the bright colours, cheerful voice and, uh, loveable smile - there's something unmistakably sinister staring you straight in the face: a mutant; a genetic atrocity.

Her actions and mannerisms, however, are completely untouched by her bizarre physical appearance. Her excitement to show you around her little patch of heaven makes her bubble with childish chatter; her pride swells as she points out some of her favourite strawberries, their fat, scarlet shine a true mark of her patience, hard work and love.

With a chirp of happiness, Su picks a nearby strawberry in a single, gracious movement. Clutched in her claws for just a moment, she extends it to you in an act of generous welcome; with some reservation you take it but before your thanks can be returned, she slides, hops, slithers away down a long row of her precious fruit.

If only she knew her real history - the truth of her origins - perhaps she wouldn't be quite so harmless.
