Abe Takaya is the catcher for Nishiura High School. Since elementary school he has dedicated himself to baseball, striving to become a strong catcher that his team can rely on. Most of his skills were developed during middle when he formed a battery with Haruna Motoki. During this time he was incredibly unhappy and called Haruna the worst after he walked off the mound in the middle of a vital game. Since then he has resented Haruna and developed trust issues.

Within Nishiura he formed a battery with Mihashi Ren, a extremely nervous, anxiety ridden pitcher. Abe is amazed by his accurate pitching ability however he has extreme trouble becoming friends and liking Mihashi due to his nervous personality and lack of confidence. Due to this Abe took upon himself to call all the pitches in their games and told Mihashi to never shake off a sign from him. He also takes it upon himself to make sure Mihashi is in top condition at all times, causing him to constantly nag Mihashi. Because of this his other teammates think he is incredibly bossy.
