Slowly, he curled around his sorrowful master's legs and assured the crying boy that everything would be alright, that there was no reason for his weaping. Though he used no words to speak aloud, the boy understood his meaning and reached down to touch the soft fur of this heavenly creature... there must have been an angel looking after him, to send down such a soft being to wipe away his tears.
The boy stood, gathering the pet into his arms and carrying him from the snow, down through the forest paths and toward his home.
Inside of the small log cabin, screams could be heard. Sixel reached out with his long, furred tail and quickly covered the boy's ears as the child pushed his way through the back door and immediately ran for his bedroom, trying to avoid the fight that he was baring witness to.
"Are you hungry?" The child asked as he placed the snow-coated pet on his bed, only to gasp lightly in surprise as the animal reached up with one fluff-covered paw to wipe at the tears in his eyes.
It's alright, now, Sixel wanted to say as he reached out and wrapped his arms around the boy's neck, pulling him close against his furred chest. I'll protect you. Despite the fact that he could not say these words, it seemed that once again the boy understood as he curled up on the bed and rested with his new-found companion against him, paws wrapped around his shoulders in a comforting hold.
They rested like that for some time, just enjoying each other's hold until the sun was long set in the sky and the fighting had stopped.
