In the ancient Glacial language her name translates to “snow demon” or, at times, “snow fairy”. “Crystal”, in the native language, refers to snow--the first half of her name. Its suffix, "claw", can be traced back to “demon” and remains interchangeable with “fairy” to this very day.

A bitter wind, common to the region, whips past the lone Kerubi, having no effect on the creature already chilled to her very core. The snowflakes nestled into her translucent coat remain with her, almost stubbornly, while she brushes past the remnants of a tree that no longer stood amongst the rest. Leaves would then tumble across the exposed forest floor, some passing her, others catching on the layer of frost, blossoming and then receding from beneath the Kerubi, with each step she took. A spider-web of fissures forming along the sheet of ice results from contact with each individual stray leaf. Though, the wintry being does not seem to mind this. If anything, she seems distantly entertained by the interaction, watching as wisps of vapor rise from around her as the glittering material deteriorates, and then reforms itself below.

At last the creature reaches her desired perch: the jagged edge of a cliff overlooking the Crystal Lake. This location had become an optimal spot from which to bask as, far below, the glistening surface of the lake held an image of the white sphere suspended overhead, and could reflect shafts of its light onto her stone perch. Towards her precisely. And each night, her silhouette would pierce the obscure skyline while she took in the lunar rays.

The orb of night was her only source of energy--making it key for survival. Before its silvery light can reach the earth below, it must first pass through a veil of ice crystals which dangle far outside its farthest limits, out in the uppermost atmosphere. It is from there that the beams of light can absorb frozen particles--a seemingly unheard-of form of matter--from deep within the icy shards and, in turn, be used to recharge her crystallized physique.

It is this glacial energy, alone, that sustains her life.

Her irises slowly flicker as she becomes immersed in the revitalizing moonlight, acting as luminous windows to the soul thought to be lingering within the Kerubi. And with her faintly-blue gaze, filled with a deep admiration, she lifts her focus to the white sphere hovering far above her, knowing she was staring into the face of the Guardian of the Glaciers.
