I peered out anxiously from the ship's tiny, cylindrical windows. The world had drawn itself up to me in such a short amount of time. It felt like only minutes had passed since it was merely a speck on the horizon. My companions stretched and paced, exercising their limbs, having also gone under induced sleep. They woke us up every few days to allow our functions to restore themselves, but it had been learned that these long space flights make inexperienced travelers rather queasy and uninviting if they aren't sedated. The amount of tickets reimbursed for awful experiences certainly had outweighed the cost of medication.

"Have you ever been?" A small girl, perhaps in her mid teens peered up at me, her freckled face contained by a massive pair of glasses. She was about my age the first time I had traveled.

"It's been a long time."

"What's it like? I really gotta know!"

I smiled back at her. "A lot will have changed since I've been here. Its probably nothing like I remember. I'm sorry, sweetie. You'll see."

The intercom hummed for a moment, drawing everyone’s attention as a voice overcame our conversation, "Docking at the Subeta space station in fifteen minutes. Please take a seat and fasten your safety gear, as the jolt of docking will be uncomfortable...."

The voice droned into the standard safety procedures, the sound growing repetitive as I felt my head swarming with thoughts. What would it be like? Would it be completely new? Will I even like it again? The first time I had left was caused by disinterest, but within a couple years- it had grown, become more lively and interesting. I had simply been called back to Earth by personal events, but would I have grown weary if I wasn’t stolen away?

“Please fill out a quick information sheet.” A woman greeted me with a smile. I’d driven myself into my own mind, forgetting my physical surroundings.

“T-t-hank you.” I smiled warmly. She crossed her arms, beckoning me to move on. The young girl received hers next.

I scribbled my information down and briskly turned down the hall, anxious to choose a companion. Large, dangerous, quick Velosotors. Perfect for battling, but not quite what I imagine when I am seeking a “companion”. Tigreans glared back at me, their icey gaze sending goosebumps up my spine. I purred slightly, remembering my old companions. Their names just slipped my mind. No, something new. I was ready to experience something that I hadn’t already.

And there he sat, beckoning me over with his eyes, a Jollin, as clever as they come. I swore a smile played at his lips. He was patient, waiting for me to approach. I couldn’t break my gaze, finding myself ensnared in his spell.

“Y-y-our n-name?” I stammered a bit.

“I haven’t one yet.”

“That is my job, isn’t it?”

“I would prefer one that suits me well.”

“Roliskov.”

“I do say, that does sound particular.”

I tore at my backpack behind me, drawing out a book. “You read?”

“I prefer to.”

I smiled, it was perfect.
