In one wingbeat, he was simply tending to the fruits of his labor up in the trees. He remembers the sun on his back, the storm from the day prior and how it had thoroughly made a mess of his trees.In the next, he felt a heavy branch hit him from the back of his head.

And in yet another wingbeat, he was splayed over a cobblestone floor in a dark room lit with candles, senses dulled and a terrible scent in the room.

It had taken one moment that that scent was coming from him, and another to look at his tattered wings and peeling flesh that he was dead. Whatever had happened, it was caused by a terrible melting monster, that screeched in a tongue that he didn't know. He handed him an old scroll, with writing that he recognized from his time as the literature that lords and other well-to-do's were taught. Not him, not a simple fruit farmer.

But how could he tell him that? How could he tell that everything was a misunderstanding of some sort? He pleaded with the monster that dragged him from his eternal rest, only for the other to bark back more unfamiliar words. Strange markings on the ground, long unnoticed, started to glow, trapping him there in that little room.

Now, his days are spent sitting, eyeing the occasional bugs that wander in. He takes them in, befriends them and lets them live in his living carcass to give them food.

Hopefully, with time, he can figure a way out. He definitely had the time.
