Ding Dong. You answer the door on Halloween night to reveal a tiny trick-or-treater. Her hair and clothing are shabby and unkempt, a satin ribbon is tied around her neck. "Trick-or-Treat" she mumbles, her gaping innocent eyes stare up at you. "How precious!" you reply, as you drop a handful of candy into her sack. "And what are you supposed to be?" The trick-or-treater puts her head down and mumbles something inaudible. "Oh my! You’re a shy one aren’t you?" you croon as you pat her head affectionately. On the third pat, the satin ribbon around her neck unwinds, and her head rolls right off. You stare wildly at the head at your feet. In disbelief you rub your eyes, only to reveal an empty doorway when they open again.
