Charlie Brown was always very unlucky. Ever since he was born, he could never do anything right. He tried many things, like kicking a football, throwing a baseball, even flying a kite, yet no matter what he did, he always failed. He couldn't help but worry he would always be a loser at everything.

One cold winter day, Charlie was walking to school. He had missed the bus for the 54th day in a row, but he knew from experience he wouldn't be late if he hurried. But just then, a meteor fell out of the sky and hit him on the head. It was just his luck.

Charlie trudged into class with his head looking abnormally large and swollen, just in time to hear the finishing announcement from his teacher, Ms. Keith. Ms. Keith was telling the class about a new project they were going to do. Each ~~user~~ student was going to get a pet rock. They would then make up elaborate stories about their pet rocks, and the student with the best rock would win a shiny trophy. Charlie was so excited about the thought of winning a trophy that he fell out of his chair, which got stuck on his head, ripping out all his hair with the exception of a few stray strands. Still, Charlie was excited about entering the contest!

He quickly found out the details. Winners would be decided every night at midnight. The winners were decided randomly, and Ms. Keith had specifically said that anyone could win! ANYONE! Charlie was so excited! He knew this was his one shot to actually do something right in his life!

Charlie ran all the way home with his rock. Unfortunately, he fell in a pothole. He was stuck in there for three days before the rescue crew finally decided to save him. Those three days gave him a lot of time to think, though! He came up with an amazing story about a rock that was a superhero or something. He just knew he was going to win!

The next day at school, however, Charlie was upset. He saw that all his other classmates had painted their rocks pretty colors. They called these colors 'overmays'. Even worse, the classmates were threatening other ~~users~~ students! They were saying that their rocks weren't good enough, and that if they won, they'd beat them into last week. Charlie didn't want to get beaten into last week, because last week he somehow ended up stranded in Alaska and a polar bear tried to eat him. Charlie Brown didn't like polar bears! He was sure he'd never win, and even if he did, he just knew he'd just get beat up because of it. He became very upset and ran out in the hallway and cried.

"Don't cry Charlie Brown!" a voice suddenly said.
Charlie looked around. Standing next to him in the hallway was a talking cucumber.
"Who the hell are you?!" He asked.
"That's not important right now!" the cucumber said, "What is important is that you show everyone just how amazing your pet rock is!"
"I can't do that! I suck!" Charlie sobbed.
"Yes you can Charlie Brown! You can do it!" The cucumber said, giving Charlie a big hug.
Charlie Brown was inspired by the pep talk from the magical talking cucumber. Unfortunately, Charlie Brown was also allergic to cucumbers. He went into anaphylaxic shock, and woke up in the hospital eight days later. During this time the doctors had confused Charlie with another patient and removed his appendix and four toes. Charlie Brown was more depressed than ever.

Charlies only dreams were to get a pretty trophy for his pet rock. It's been years, but to this day, Charlie Brown still stays up every night, eagerly awaiting the time when the pet rock winner is announced. Part of him feels like he'll never win. He's just not that lucky. But the other part just can't forget what that magical cucumber said...

Charlie Brown's story was inspired by the great pet spotlight drama-fest of April, 2010. Approximately 30 pets and 20 users were trampled to death that month by disgruntled users. May they all rest in peace.
