To remove all doubts was not something to do.

Her mother had lived among her people in her youth but could not talk. She was treated with cruelty because a proud, clarion voice was what her kind valued.

These treasures owed a debt. Thus the remainder was allowed to grow strong.

Never risk the life of a new mother...yet mother had died while her foolish mate ambled on. To impress her, he claimed, but it was really his greed that spoke. He brought mother along like a beast of burden while telling her that all his sacrifices were for her. Ironically, it was his only get rich scheme that had any grain of truth in it.

Such pretty things. So many die for such pretty things...

Now in her adulthood, she sits and waits, entertainment filtering through the colored ice of her palace. Light was all she needed, never sound. After the death of her parents, nobody dared test the curse. Thus, nobody would find her and she lived her days in peace...in silence, like her dead mother, except her silence was due to never having been spoken to (as far as she could remember, anyways).
