Soulbond Marionette

Leviticus was a child the day he died.. the day his body died rather; he had been left in the care of his oldest sibling, a rebellious and wild teenager who was seeking something different. She found it in the shape of the twisted world of the Danse Macabre, the night carnival that appeared in the wee hours of the night just inside the woods that stretched outside the city limits. It was only about a half hour drive from the small three bedroom home where they lived with their single mother. The pair stepped into the shadowed wagon where the man was waiting, waving his hands around the glowing red crystal ball. His sister took a seat before him and the young boy huddled with fear in the corner watching.. he went on to describe to her an idealistic view of her future.. and then she slumped out of her chair with a wide-eyed expression frozen upon her face.

"Come here child.." The man hissed but the boy found himself unable to move from where he was curled into the corner of the wagon with his back against a small trunk. Then the man moved.. the scrap of his scales against the wood floor of the wagon made the child shiver and he squeaked in fear as coils curled around his legs and dragged him closer, crying and clutching against a thick cloak he'd managed to get a hold of. The snake-man manipulated him until he was standing and staring directly into those brilliant slitted yellow eyes.. "Mine... mine.." He hissed in delight as he caressed his fingers over the boy's cheek. The creature, Nether, locked the young boy away into a small cage and busied himself with a strange doll.

It was two days later before Nether revealed the creation, seated upon a stool in front of the caged boy.. an eerily detailed replicate of the boy himself with his pale skin and his curly blonde hair.. the only difference was the exchange of his soft brown eyes with a pair of glittering sapphires. The demon reached through the cafe bars and grabbed the boy's shoulders and began to mutter under his breath, and soon the boy felt light as a feather, his eyes closed and then opened again and he found himself watching as his lifeless body was taken from the cage and place somewhere out of view. His head tilted down and he gaze down upon the doll's body that he now inhabited.. he cried but no tears came.

Leviticus would learn again how to move.. how to walk, as the years passed he became more comfortable in his created bodies and Nether's details were more refined, these days the ball-jointed body seems to be the easiest for managing and flexibility. As he was getting more comfortable with his new shape Nether instructed him on sings and dancing as a way of performing and he was soon made an attraction of the carnival, some nights he would preform on a small stage near Nether's wagon, other times he would wander the carnival, and occasionally he would simply sit and sing or play an instrument right outside Nether's wagon to entice visitors. The boy's form was lovely, slender and elegant with long golden hair and an assortment of glittering gems that served as his eyes - the most common behind pink sapphires that matched the magenta and gold embellishments of one of his common uniforms.

He was a servant.. unable to part from the demon who had imprisoned his soul for every time something broke he needed Nether to repair him. Perhaps the demon planned it that way, for his dependency on the foul creature was better than any other form of bondage or imprisonment. This wasn't to say that Nether did not physical bind him on occasions, if there was ever a time that Nether departed more than a few hours, Leviticus was chained inside the wagon and there he would remain until his master returned. Every now and then the doll could be found seated upon a bench, gazing out into the open path of the woods that lead to the carnival.. wishing he could escape..
