It seemed to Soi Fong that Yoruichi tended to attract strange people the way water attracts ducks. Or perhaps it was the other way around and she was the duck. Either way, she had a knack for keeping the company of those that no one else wanted to be around. Urahara Kisuke was an unreliable eccentric, Shiba Kuukaku always smelled like smoke and Tsukabishi Tessai was...just too much. And all of them were experts at making things explode. Even if they didn't want to make them explode.

It never occurred to Soi Fong that she would end up as another of Yoruichi's explosive acquaintances. Her bankai was a little disappointing. There was some appeal in having an arm cannon that was a meter longer than you were tall. But not if you were the commander of the Secret Mobile Corps. There was nothing stealthy about giant, golden arm cannons. The backfire was enormous. She had to tie herself down with an armor-weave sash and the sash broke anyway. And she could only blast it once every three days. It was the worst bankai for someone in her position.

It was, she concluded, all Urahara's fault. Everything. Even Oomaeda. Especially Oomaeda.

Ah. Well. Maybe not especially. But he was mostly the reason she got stuck with Oomaeda.

If Urahara had not gotten himself into Aizen's business, he wouldn't have been arrested. And Yoruichi wouldn't have felt compelled to rescue the incompetent ingrate. And she wouldn't have had to leave. And Soi Fong wouldn't have felt the need to try and surpass her, thus getting stuck with a bomb for a bankai and Oomaeda.

Still, she had to admit that although Oomaeda was certainly a useless coward, he was the type of dependable useless coward that ended up doing his job anyway. Eventually. In great fear.

But it was still Urahara's fault. And that Hachigen was asking her to use her bankai a second time in the same day was also his fault. But maybe it wasn't all that bad.

She turned to Hachigen and eyed him skeptically as he stated his offer. "Really? You would do that?"

"I keep my promises. In exchange for using your bankai, I will seal Urahara in a barrier for a month."

Yes. It wasn't all that bad.
