When life gives you lemons...well make lemonade! And pie, and cake, and cupcake, and ice cream, and pudding, and delicious icing, and CANDY lots of candy!). And cosmetics, and cleaners and....and...and sometimes, just sometimes, you can even make friends with a lemon! Many of us are faced with adversities every day. Some are minor, like finding a slug in your boot, others are more serious, like discovering you no longer have boots, or a house, or a home or...a head (ask Heracles about that one! ).Aeolis lived in a small town in the middle of the arctic wastelands. She loved the arctic wastelands but she didn't really like the town. In fact, she had lived there before there was a town. Someone had discovered something shiny in Aeolis' wastelands and before she knew what was going on, a town had popped up all around her. You can imagine what a shock it is to wake up one morning and discover you are being yelled at for sleeping in someone's front yard when the day before that spot had been your very own wasteland. Before this, Aeolis had always thought that cold hooves were a nuisance. And iced over horns. In general she tended to be a bit of a sourpuss and get very annoyed over what most of us would consider minor nuisances, or even fun. Take snowballs. Aeolis HATED snowballs. So you can imagine that having a town dropped on her did not lighten her mood. The truth is, Aeolis wasn't really a bad sort, just rather shy and awkward. She was also very large and shaggy. She also always had cold feet. You try spending most of your life with cold, wet feet and see that it doesn't make you grumpy. She would clump about huffing and puffing and grumbling and mumbling and muttering, and very quickly everyone decided, without really bothering to engage the large, shaggy Devonti in conversation and getting to know her, that Aeolis was to be avoided. In fact, things got worse. Because she was so very large and fierce looking, with enormous frosty eyes, great curving frosty horns and great ice covered hooves, people started blaming Aeolis for things that went wrong. At first it was little things: if a car got dented, a window smashed, a key lost in a snowbank or a snowball thrown at the mayors head (as if Aeolis who hated snowballs would do THAT!) the big, shaggy Devonti was blamed. Aeolis, although intelligent, didn't speak much and she saw no point in trying to defend herself, she could quickly tell that people had made up their mind about her without giving her a chance. She had tried to simply leave the town and move further into the wastelands, but to her chagrin the town seemed to spread faster than fuzzy green mold. That shiny stuff really attracted a lot of people. Although Aeolis was tough and built for survival, even she couldn't stand the coldest most harsh parts of the wastelands, and as I said, she hated having cold feet, which she had more and more often now that the town was displacing her stomping grounds.*to be continued*
