"HI!" I look up and see 2 girls who look identical smiling at me. "How can we help you today?" they say in unison. A little taken aback by the unusual greeting you just blankly stare at the girls. "We have tons of stuff for you to choose from!" one of the girls stated. I glanced down to search for a nametag. A small rectangular, grass green tag with white lettering across the top was pinned to her shirt. The nametag read "My name is" and then in bigger bolder letters, her name "Heidi". I told Heidi that I had been recommended to come to their shop by a friend and that I knew very little about these types of products. I kind of just half mumbled it to her.
As the conversation unfolded, I could see the other girl behind the counter smiling and nodding when appropriate to do so. She seemed to be very cheery and pleasant. They started asking questions. Heidi asked, "What sort of effect are you going for?" and I replied, "I am here because I need to be focused and to function during the day but still use your products at the same time." The girls looked at each other.
The other girl (the one previously nodding in the background) came walking towards me as Heidi stepped off to the side, where the other girl had previously stood. This girl had a pep in her step and a personality that completely matched her vibe. Our eyes met and she very bubbly stated "Sounds like you need an upper!" She went on to say that "An upper is exactly as it sounds! It gets you UP off of your BUTT and wanting to get things DONE!" I looked at her for a moment and stuttered out "uhh...yeah".
She motioned her hand for me to follow her direction. I went with her to view a board on the wall that listed everything in uppers that they happen to have in stock. I felt overwhelmed. There were so many different ways to put that pep in your step. I never imagined I could drink it, eat it, and much more. When I was done reading the menu of products, I looked at the girl and said, "Sometimes I get a little insomnia at night though, will this "Upper" work for that?" I glanced at her nametag as she chuckled, and it was identical in every way to her sisters' tag. The only difference was her name "Stacy". Still partially laughing she said, "Wait here, I'll get my sister!" As I waited, I glanced at Heidi. She was standing there with a half-smile on her face and buffing her nails with a nail file.
Stacy then bounced back into the room, behind her was her sister. Her sister was once again identical to her in every way except personality. As she was walking towards me, I scrambled to look for a nametag thinking I got a contact high when I walked in. I found this whole engagement to be creepy and unnerving. As she was three steps in front of me, I learned her name. Her nametag stated that her name was Iris. So, I smile and say "Uh, hey", she looked up at me and calmly said "Hey...What can I help you with?" From there Stacy responded and giggled as she said, "She asked me if an Upper was good for insomnia." We look at each other and she says "No. If you are having any sort of sleep issue, I would not ever purchase an Upper." I must have looked confused, and I admit I probably did.
Heidi then spoke up and explained what I had previously explained to them. Iris nodded her head and said "Ahh...now I get it. You need an upper in the day and a downer for nighttime relief. " She stretched her arms and then waved for me to follow her. She said here's the deal "These are the products that I have and here's the caution when using them." She told me that these Downers are going to make me sleepy and very calm. She called it a "mellow vibe" and that I should start low with my dosage choice. She explained about the warnings on the label and to take any purchase in their store slow. Start at a low dosage until I find the right one for me.
After talking with Stacy and Iris I was a little more confident about my choice in purchase. I understood the difference in their products and the risks that came with each. Heidi then walked over to where we were standing. She asked me to come see the products on the Hybrid wall as well. She then explained what a Hybrid was and its effects. She also explained the risks and benefits just like the other girls did. She smiled at me and said, "So can we get you anything?" I smiled back at her and told her which items I wanted to purchase. As I went to leave their shop, I turned and thanked them for their help. Heidi and Stacy were behind the counter, but Iris had long since retired to the back room. Stacy blurted out "You're Welcome!" However, Heidi said "Thank you for your purchase, if you have any more questions drop by and see us. We hope to see you again!"
I then left feeling content and thought of how silly I was to be creeped out by those girls.
