Morphesius shook his fur out, and then ran a paw over pieces that had ended up a bit too fluffy. Turning around in the mirror, and stretching his wings, he focused large teal eyes on his reflection and determined that he was ready for the day.He dove out of his room and down the hall to the living room. His toys were neatly tucked away onto shelves and into toy boxes. Taking an inventory, he made sure his crew was all around and ready. Silly black kitty plushie? Check. Calico kitty beanbag? Check.While taking stock, his dearest friend, an angelic puppy named Otto, came trotting into the living room, his halo gripped firmly in his mouth. Otto was a quiet one, but was always companionable and willing to play.Morphesius frowned to himself, and did another quick look through the living room. I can't find my yellow derpy puppy plushie. Have you seen it, Otto? he asked, still puzzled as to what could have happened to the thing.The brown-spotted puppy shook his head emphatically, while Morphesius tried to remember when he had seen it last. He was sure it had been around yesterday morning.Well, you know what we need to do, then! Morphesius's mind whirled, and he came up with the most delightful idea. We need to go rescue him.Pushing his nose to the ground, Morphesius mumbled through a mouthful of carpet,We need to scout the area for clues on his whereabouts. Copying him exactly, Otto pressed his nose to the ground, or as close as he could while still gripping his halo, and sniffed the area for clues.The carpet was beginning to itch and burn, so Morphesius sat up. Time to report in! Otto sat in front of him, and blinked stoically. Ah, the villains who kidnapped him left no clues? Drat! We'll just have to expand our search then.Pressing through the house, Morphesius and Otto looked under the stairs, in the closets, on shelves, and anywhere else the plushie might have been whisked off to. They traipsed through the basement, living room, bathrooms, and bedrooms.After a long morning of searching, the game getting old, Morphesius and Otto regrouped in the house's parlor. Oh, the poor guy! Morphesius exclaimed, attempting to renew the passion for the adventure. We must press onward, Otto! However tiring and trying the search gets on us, we must remember that the yellow derpy puppy plushie has been kidnapped. Who knows what sort of torture he's been subjected to?Otto scratched his ear with his hind leg, letting Morphesius continue his monologue. Pacing about, Morphesius adopted a firm . He was a brave martyr, for you know the kidnappers must have been after us! We must rescue him at all costs, even if it means missing lunch!When Otto made a distressed sound at the idea, he let out a light laugh. Well, maybe we can continue the search after lunch. Come on.Leading the way to the kitchen, they noted that the food bowls were all ready out and full of kibble. And there, tucked behind the pink bowl, was the missing plushie. Diving forward, Morphesius nuzzled him in welcome. Why, look at this, Otto! He must have escaped his captors and come back just in time for lunch. Lets eat in celebration!His friend at his side and the soft plushie beneath his chin, Morphesius decided that there had never been such a tasty meal as the one he had earned today.
