DISCLAIMER: Jaqen Hghar refers to himself as "A man." He is narrating this story, retelling the events surrounding him and Arya Stark.

“Cersei, The Hound, Joffrey, Ser Illyn Payne….” The girl spoke softly.
“The girl speaks many names. Are they somehow related to each other?” A man asked.
“They are the people I mean to kill someday. I can’t sleep until I say their names.”
“The girl saved a man and the two he was with one month ago. You stole three lives from the Red God. A man owes three names.” A man held up three fingers for emphasis.
“Three names?”
“We must give the Red God back what is his. Say three names, and a man will kill them.”
The girl looked thoughtful for a few long moments before she came closer to whisper, “Chiswyck…”
A man gave her a wry grin. “It will be done.” Then he walked off.

Three days passed and a man was walking on top of Harrenhall’s walls eating an apple. The man named Chiswyck was on patrol duty. Cutting the throat would draw too much attention and would be too messy. A person would be caught as soon as the deed was done. It would have to be made to look like an accident. There was no one else around. Walking towards the victim and casually pushing him off the edge in a way that he’d die upon landing would be the best and most inconspicuous way for this thing to be done. With Chiswyck walking one way, a man walked toward him. As soon as paths were crossed, Chiswyck was softy and suddenly pushed off the edge of the towering walls. As predicted, he kicked over two barrels so one followed him down to the ground and the other spilled water. One woman screamed. Once she did, people began to gather around the now dead guard. A man looked down at the scene unfolding and the girl who named the victim arrived and looked up. A man caught her eye and held up one finger to her. One name, one death. Two more remained.

The girl found her silent assassin days later. She had a look of determination in her eyes and such malice that would even make the bravest man in Westeros wince. She walked up and whispered another name.
“Weese….”
A man gave the girl a nod and got up to do the deed. The man named Weese would be an easy kill. In addition to a foul temper, he had a dog. A dog is easy to implicate to a death. After a man finished his patrol duties for the day, he went off to find Weese. Weese was already drunk when a man found him. A quick cut to the throat would suffice. Coming up behind Weese with knife in hand, a man sliced the victim’s throat. A man quickly left the way he came, taking care not to walk in the blood. When the body was found that morning, it was believed that the dog killed him. That was easy to believe since Weese liked to abuse his animals as well as other people.

“The girl owes the Red God one more name.”
She was practicing with a wooden stick. She would become a fierce warrior someday. She stopped swinging her stick and looked at a man in the eye.
“Can you help me free the Northmen in the dungeons?”
“This would require more than one life. One does not equal many. Surely there are others; even a king if the girl wished.”
The girl walked up to a man and leaned in to whisper the last name.
“Jaqen H’Ghar…”
A man was stunned to hear his own name. But they had a bargain. A man took out a dagger.
“The girl would lose her only friend if he went through with this.”
“If he were a friend, he would help me.” The girl seemed determined.
“If she were to name another, a man will help.”

She agreed. A man withdrew his dagger and stood up. The best way to free the Northmen would be to make several pots of soup and throw it around the room while we killed the guards. After a man told the girl to gather her friends and tell the cooks to make boiling hot soup, everyone carried the heavy pots up to the dungeons. As the pots were brought in, the guards eyed them hungrily. They came near to the pots and as soon as they were close enough, a man shouted a word.
The soup flew in every which way, onto the walls, the floor, the table, and on the guards. Once they were distracted with the burning hot soup, a man and the people he was with dispatched them quickly, freeing the prisoners.

A man wiped off his sword when the deed was done.
“Remember, this is your work. Now will you take the name back?” A man pleaded.
“Yes, I un-name you. Can I still have that third name?” The girl seemed determined to kill.
“The girl had more than three names already. It would be wise if she would not get greedy with the Red God.” A man put away his sword and after a moment he spoke again.
“It is time for Jaqen H’Ghar to die.” A man passed a hand over his face and his features changed. A crooked nose and a golden tooth.
“Who are you? How did you do that? I want to learn too.”
“If you come across the Narrow Sea with a man to Braavos, a girl would learn all the secrets of the faceless ones.”
“I can’t now. I have to find my family.”
A man took out a worn iron coin and gave it to her. “Take this coin. It is of great value in Braavos. Give it to any man in Braavos and say these words to him, ‘Valar Morghulis.’ Say it.”
“Valar Morghulis.” The girl replied.
A man grinned at her. “Good.”
A man turned from her and walked off into the night.
