Nogitsune
Legacy Name: Nogitsune

A nogitsune is borne out of pain, chaos and strife. A mischievous and volatile fox spirit that will stop at nothing to cause chaos. They are trickster spirits, they will play games with your mind and your sanity. They will feed off your pain. And there isn't much that can stop a nogitsune once it has been unleashed, unless you were to destroy the host and trap the spirit. But be wary not to call on chaos again, for it will answer.

We take the form of a teenage boy. Frail in mind and body. His mortal sacrifice has awakened us and given us power. We have been trapped for close to seventy years. Trapped by the one who sent for us. She prayed to us, seeking revenge on the soldiers and doctors at the Internment Camp where there had been a massacre--- where her beloved had died. She asked us to possess her, but where was the fun in that? We took her dead lover as a host, inhabiting his body to deal out her desired revenge.

What has a neck but no head?

But we were betrayed by the young woman! Our host destroyed and us trapped under the entity only known to us as the Nemeton. Perhaps it was divine irony that this very entity was the one that then freed us all these years later. We hunger now, though. Hungry for the pain, chaos and strife that we would cause now that we were free. Finding a host was easy, his mind was shadowed by his recent encounter with death and we chipped away at his will power until he could no longer deny us. Only the demon guardians, the Oni, knew of our presence but not who we were. And it was too late when they did.

Everyone has it but no one can lose it.
What is it?

Chaos and strife. We took over the boy - locked him inside his own mind as we controlled his mortal body. Our power only grows, these children feed us with their fear and desperation. Their need to get rid of us, expel us from their friend but there is no way. If we die, then he will die with us. We kill many, we cause the pain and suffering of many more. Through our clever trickery, the Oni become our servants. No longer loyal to the kitsune who called upon us, betrayed us. Blood runs the rivers red and we are unstoppable.

What gets bigger the more you take away?

Or so we were led to believe. Our fox fire proved easy for them to overcome, they were stronger than we had initially anticipated. But there was still no way they could kill me and save the boy. But they changed us. Bitten by an Alpha, we could not be a fox and a wolf at the same time. Our body destroyed again, we were forced to revert to our animal form - the fly. Our fox fire. Trapped within a box made of mountain ash, almost inescapable.

But we will.
And chaos will come again.
