Let my people go!

Thousands of years ago, in the Dawn Era, the elves of Tamriel were still one people: the Aldmer. By the time the Era came to an end, their culture had fragmented. Some of the elves married along the humans. Others communed with the Daedric Princes, but all of them were fed up by their own culture, which had grown decadent.

Veloth was one of those. Guided by the Daedric Prince Boethiah, he gathered a following of pilgrims looking for a more ascetic and pure way of life. When Trinimac, one of the champions of the Aldmeri faith tried to stop him, Boethiah intervened. The Daedra ate Trinimac and when he was done he execreted the champion. The remaining dung then became the Daedra Malacath, the patron of the spurned and ostracized, and Trinimacs followers were turned into Orcs.

Veloth then took his people on a long journey to the far land of Resdayn, where he established his new values and created a new society. His elves, now called the Chimer, the changed ones, enjoyed a period of high culture. So great was Veloths impact that even after thousands of years have passed, he is worshipped as the foremost Saint of the Dunmer pantheon and regarded as their greatest ancestor.

Of the many relics of Veloth, four are the most important: His warhammer which is called Veloth's Judgement. His Tear, a crystal with great restorative powers. It is said Veloth cried when he first laid eyes upon his new homeland, and the tear froze as it slid down his cheek. His Holy Vessel, in which Veloth carried water to quench the thirst of his sick pilgrims, and which he later used to irrigate the newly planted crops in Resdayn. The last of the relics is his Reliquary, in which siand Veloths skull and bones rest. Often, pilgrims travel from across Morrowind to receive the blessing of their saint and to pray and meditate.
