Sail the World

The journey has only just begun

The sea and sky are vast and near endless. When you look up at the world around you, you've only just started on the path in front of you.
Risa always wished to see further beyond the horizon that felt so distant. It was a far off dream to a child, but something that would never leave her. The smell of the ocean and the wind carrying clouds always surrounded her. When she could, Risa loved to watch boats sail in and out of the docks. She loved seeing faces that were unfamiliar to her, and hearing of places that were far from her home. She'd hurry home and pretend she were running through wild jungles and fighting off fierce beasts. Everything was an adventure, she could only imagine the fun she'd have if she could one day sail the seas too.
Even as she grew older she loved to stop and listen to stories of the sailors who had happily indulged her curiosity for years. The most amazing thing she was ever told were stories of ships being made to do more than sail the sea, they were ships that could soar into the clouds overhead. Flying ships, just like a bird! Although Zeppelins and hot air balloons would often visit they were not ideal for the types of trips a normal ship would take. Days, weeks, even months out at sea. But a ship that was more than just a balloon sparked a hot desire within Risa. It would take a few more years for her dream to truly be realized, but she knew from that moment where her future lie.

Sky Bell. That was the name she gave her glorious flying ship. The soft whistling noise it made while it flew reminded Risa of the wind chimes hanging in front of her family home. The construction for the ship had taken a year and a half, after many tests and prototypes. Risa had crafted the original image of the ship with help from those familiar with flying ships. It was the first of it's size, making it the largest flying ship to date. Although it could fly far above the sea, it could also sail as smooth on the waves as the best ships. She had just turned 20 when the ship was finally given to her. It was a unique ship, one of few of such a large size that could be sailed by a single crew member. In truth, the ship was considered a final prototype that would never be reproduced, as although it had been worked on for quite some time was still imperfect. Risa, however, felt very strongly her ship would lead her far beyond the horizon she so longed to sail into. She promised herself that no matter the challenge she would overcome it. Even when her ship became old and started to fall apart, she would gather all the pieces and put it back together and continue her journey.
Thus Risa became Captain of the Sky Bell. Her parents, friends, and many others wished her well and watched in awe as her ship lifted up from the water and broke through the clouds lingering in the sky. Many watched until the ship was nothing more than a black speck in the sky. Her ship became her home, but she would never forget to come back and rest her feet from time to time on land and tell stories to those who had done the same for her.

Eyes forward and ever alert to the sky above and sea below, she sailed onward and the journey truly began.
