The Legend of Gwydia and the Protectors of Pure

Gwydia is a gargoyle of legend. She was born to protect humanity from evil spirits. Her presence is enough to repel any ancient evil and send them far, far away. All gargoyles are born to protect but some are corrupted by evil when lured from their perches and away from the humanity they are sworn to protect. These gargoyles are the mortal enemies of all pure hearted gargoyles. Gwydia is of pure heart and even once was lead astray by an evil spirit. This spirit had never encountered such purity before and straining itself to corrupt Gwydia, her purity caused a backlash of pure energy so vast that it destroyed every evil spirit within a 500 mile radius. She was left with a glowing mark on her chest in the shape of a heart and no evil spirit will ever tread near the area where so many of their brethren were killed. Gwydia is now known far and wide as Gwydia the Pure Heart. She was soon after sought out by all other gargoyles and dragons of pure heart and has formed a great league of protectors known as the Protectors of Pure. Together they built a fortress within the area where she originally destroyed millions of evil spirits and it has become known as a place of sanctuary from the forces of evil. Among the bricks that were used to build the fortress are fragments of defeated gargoyles, which strengthen the protection of the walls. She and her league will protect all those in need and destroy any evil force that threatens to vanquish them in sorrow and despair.
