The keeper of memories

He was always there for her. Her husband had been gone for a while. The house didn't feel the same without him. "You're the only one that's left, Mr. Puffe" - the old lady said, as she picked up the small plushie that she used to stick her sewing needles on. He has always been there. Silent. A constant friendly smile on his face. He couldn't say anything, but he loved her as much as she loved him. He still remembers when she used to bake cookies - the cookies she made for her husband some time ago - and sat down on the rocking chair. She then would spend hours sweing and listening to old records on the gramophone - oh, how the songs bring memories - and sing to herself, often smiling, often crying.

When the old lady was out for groceries, Mr. Puffles would watch the rats sneak out of holes in the wall, and check the surroundings. The house became quiet like him, but his mind was loud with the songs that he used to listen to in the company of his friend. He knew she felt alone. He always wished he could tell her that he was there. A friend. Ready to keep her company.

Today, the house is abandoned. The wallpapers are quite ripped out, and the rats took over the place. There are no more cookies or sewing nights, and the old gramophone is rusty and hasn't played anything in a while. Mr Puffes feels lonely, and he keeps all the needles the old lady sticked to him as treasures. He knows she won't come back anymore. She had to go meet with her husband. And the tought of that made Mr. Puffes feel happy for her. But, at the same time, he missed her and all those old records.

He knew that for as long as he could, he had been there for her. A friend. Ready to keep her company.
