They knew they couldn't lead a normal life as Ardat-Yakshi, and willingly joined a monastery to spend their days in isolation. Morinth was different. Morinth was never meant to live inside monastery walls. She considered her condition to be power. She grew addicted to to killing her mates, gaining their powers and growing ever stronger. As soon as Samara realized this, she knew what she had to do.
She had to kill her daughter.
It was easy to justify with the Justicar Code - she would follow the Code, and she would be just. Allowing her daughter to live and continue her destruction would be unjust. It was all black and white. But it just felt grey with her.
Like her squadmate Garrus had once said, she didn't know what to do with grey.
