There's something peculiar about the boy, his skin is slightly paler than usual and the tips of his ears are pointy. Besides those two things, he seems pretty ordinary. His hair is auburn and short but uneven, like whoever cut it didn't quite know what he was doing. The clothing seems well-maintained, consisting of pants and a farmers shirt with a long cloak over it. Your ordinary run-of-the-mill farm boy, one'd say.
The wagon stops at a crossroad. Both paths lead to small cities, and it seems this is the end of the road for the elven-like boy as he jumps off the wagon. The man gets off as well, wanting to ask something else or maybe pass a word of advice to the youngster, but he's already far down the road. Scratching his head, the driver notices something laying on the hay lump where the boy was; a small wooden goat, freshly carved. Presuming it's left as a "thank you" for the ride, he smiles. One young boy back at home will be very happy when gets his new toy.
Just as he was finishing his food, he heard footsteps coming his way. Being on the road for a while now, he knew better than to stay idle. Just as he jumped to his feet, a group of two grown men showed up behind the curb. They were well-dressed and sober, but their rough apperance, long beards and broad chest, didn't make him feel any better. It took the two a while to notice the boy-like young man blocking their path, as they were too busy arguing about something.
One of the men laughed as soon as he laid his eyes on Rilyan. "Well well well, what's this? A twiggy little boy blocking our way? Better let your roots sink in deep, boy, else a wind might blow you off the path!"
"I don't want to fight you. I'm just mindful of my surroundings.", he replied calmly, moving to the side. Yet, as the one laughing passed, his friend stopped mid-way and took a better look, noticing the small yet pointy ears, the bag at his waist and the broken amulet around his neck. "Hey, boy... Are you one of those... Forest creatures, perhaps?" Rilyan's fist clenched at the man's remark. Creatures? These men knew nothing about the greatness of the elven race! You do not call them mere "creatures"!
"What's that? A twiggy's one real tree hugger, y'say?!" His companion's laughter only turned louder. "Well then, boy, show us some of that green magic! We could do with some amusement!" The way he accented "green" really pissed Rilyan off.
It was not so much of a step but more of a leap back and already his hand was on the amulet. "I will not preform tricks for you as some trained animal! Leave me be and go on your way!" His free hand was now deep in his bag, rummaging for something that might do as weapon if it comes to worst.
"Don't be like that, boy..." A big, rugged hand suddenly ruffled his hair before grabbing it, causing the lad pain. The voice whispering into his ear was silky yet unpleasantly toned. "Just a trick or two and we'll go. And maybe some money. You tree huggers don't need it anyway, right? You do business with leaves and twigs." The boy pulled his hand out of the bag suddenly and that's probably the only reason the grip broke. He seemed properly pissed by now. "We Elves are a proud race, and you'll be sure to remember it, especially when I take the throne!" The look of utter surprise on both men was soon replaced with slight fear when they heard silent chanting, expecting the amulet in the boy's hand to glow, fry them on the spot or turn them into mice. Yet, nothing happened. Despite the chants and the glare coming their way, the lad might've been better off holding a broken-off branch.
Quickly gathering their composture, the surprise on their faces turned into anger. Of course, they will not be played like that by some little runt...
While gathering his stuff off the ground, his pride hurt more than his body. He got off pretty easily, with just a split lip and a few bruises. Of course, they took his money, but at least he got to keep his tools. That might help him get some of it back. And they tore off the amulet off his neck, too, but he did not bother picking it up. Just one more scam he fell for along the way. But that will all change, as soon as he finds them, and her in particular, the one who brought him to this world, the greatest queen the Sunlight Elves have seen... Until he comes along. He'll be the king they need, the one they deserve, the one to remember.
